Door soundproofing Prius 1.8 Gen3 (2010-2015) soundproofing series part 5

Door soundproofing is supposed to be very effective in reducing sound from the outside environment. I am using different soundproofing method on different door. Trying to determine which one is better. Note that weight is also to be taken into consideration when doing soundproofing as these materials will add weight to the car which will cause reduction in fuel efficiency.
Lastly, I do not have a proper sound testing device. So my test is using mobile phone which is not really accurate.
I can say the sound is better after doing it but it is still noisy due to the tyre that I am using is low profile. It is also aging which causes slight hardening that produce even harsher sound.

Thanks for sharing. I once tried sound deadening on the Prius 3 pre-facelift 2009-2012. I assume you have the Prius 3 facelift version of the car as there is already more sound deadening material installed from the car factory on critical places . It seams to me that the most convenient way to readuce road noise is to choose tyres carefully.

Good video bro! What is the 3m material you are using? Where did you get it?

The 3M material is called sound deadening. I am not sure if 3M actually make such material but the quality in the one I use is good. Bought it from my local online retailer called Shopee/Lazada.

What was the difference in the sound level before and after ?

I would say not much difference in terms of loudness. However, it does made the sound less sharp. I think for my case it's more like the lousy quality tyre that I am using. Going to change that once I have budget for it. Also, when the car is stopped at traffic light, can feel less noise from outside.

@@unkertech I guess this is because maybe the car overall built is not meant for good soundproofing. I have a same pictures like yours, I think the sound could become from the under carriage. Your video is very good… You make me also want to start a project like yours :-) because I like quiet car.

You should start with the floor. And also cover the access holes from the doors. That makes more of a difference.

Wht was the final result ? How much difference? Have u done floor sound proof ? And boot also ? I think floor and boot sound proofing make hell of difference. What u say about this ?
