You could use scrap (news)papers to trace out the exact shapes you need and then transfer them onto the insulation. This would help you get a better fit and decrease the ammount of waste.

Buying low noise tires is a good start I changed my front tyres (now 68db, previously 72db). It makes a big difference.

Looks like it, but I've installed a bunch of these butylene mats, and they absolutely make a massive difference. Most importatly they reduce resonance by dampening vibrations in the sheet metal.
