Yes they are. I have one on my French doors to my deck . I have also seen you can now pick these up at dollar stores (dollar tree) for $1 a piece i havent confirmed that but will try too

I just put mine up. When i set it on alarm it sounds off constantly (thats with the door/window closed and it not being opened). In the off position it stops, but when i open door it does nothing. Seems to work backwards. Any advice? Thx.

I have not been able to open the battery compartment to replace the batteries. I see the arrows indicating such but can't get the cover to move. I have tried to push in and slide it outward but can't even budge it. Help. Please

I bought mines for harbor freight store for $6 and the harbor freight versions one are better than the dollar tree version

If a door is held up for a long time, will the chime repeat? Or does it just chime once no matter how long the door is opened? Thanks!

Does it detect humans walking in to my garage while im inside the house ,or does it only work when a door opens,?

No, these are magnet based what you need is this from harbor freight its a motion detector . works really well we have one on a post at our driveway and the box on the wall by our front door it chimes if someone/something enters our drive way. www.harborfreight.com/wireless-security-alert-system-62447.html

If the thief does enter and realizes that the sensor alarm is not connected to a central security alarm system, still he can close the door or window quickly, steal whatever, and then a quick escape, with a quick opening-shutting of the door/window behind him, so the alarm stops making noise quickly when he/she enters or leaves the house...

You are totally correct. this is more of alert to someone in the house. say in the bathroom or an upstairs bedroom etc.

I wanted to see how to install. Not helpful in my case. unfortunately I do not deal with written instructions as well as I used to.

They come with double sided tape to install them, one side goes on the door the small piece goes on the wall where the door meets or if you have french doors one piece will go on one door and the other piece will go on the other door. Pro Tip: if the double sided tape fails. 3m makes a automotive grade double sided tape that is AMAZING! . Make sure you clean the surfaces real good with alcohol to remove any thing that would stop the tape from sticking.
