Hello...nange mam avar contact number or email id edre kodtira..I wanted to discuss about feminism in kannada literature because I am working on that topic for phd proposal
Madam's narrative about marriage where she links marriage with value system of our society is profound. While she talks about compromises in marriage, it would have been more pertinent, if she had noted that the values of individuals be that of promoting equality and dignity around society while at the same time ensuring and enabling equality and dignity within the marriage in day to day life as well as in times of crisis. If the values of the individuals in a marriage is anything other than promoting equality and dignity, then, it would be a marriage of selfishness and thus goes against the grain of equality and dignity. Relating life in a marraige as living with compromises while continuing with differences, what is one to do when an ideas and actions of parties in a marraige goes against that grain of truth, viz, equality and dignity is a question that should be explored from Madam in an another interview. I started making notes after watching the interview for about an hour. As such I could not respond critically to much about the what transpired right from the beginning. All that I would say is that it would have been more authentic if Madam had utilized tools of poliltical theories of writers in the fields of critical theory, feminism, queer theory, etc, instead of quoting from poetry and literature. I am of the belief that art, viz, literature, novels, drama, poetry, etc has made negligible contribution to bring about changes in social conditions for promoting and sustaining equality and dignity as could be see from history per se as well as history of art and literature, where art and literature has been the mainstay for pleasure. The whole interview was a educative. I did not know that Madam's son's name is Chidananda, which is my name also. I couple of years back I had requested Madam for translation of Naari Kela into English. I would like know the name of the publisher of the english translation of Naari Kela so that I can buy it.
