It happens all the time this is very common, this thing of merchants ignoring or ghosting or being rude to couriers. It drives me nuts and I call thrm out whenever it happens to me, and I appreciate and I'm super nice to good merchants and I call out the bad ones, I have a lot of frustrating stories with shitty merchants that treat me like a second class citizen because I'm just picking up a Doordash order, customers don't know what couriers go through and they usually put the blame for an issue on the courrier when usually problems aren't the courier's fault.

i dont think they're bothering with streamlining operations for couriers because couriers are temporary until full automated delivery kicks in. as a consumer though, the point from when the order is taken to when the driver picks it up is all a big black box, i think transparency is important to add more consumer confidence in the product because right now it's anyone's guess how much effort is being made from the restaurant to expedite online orders vs how urgent and competent my driver is relative to traffic. some people just shouldn't be driving for a living when they're not efficient drivers
