I see shop and deliver orders very regularly and usually decline them. Walgreens, Dollar General, CVS, United Supermarkets, etc. Often too many items to be worth it. And usually they suck, I have a hard time finding items, and often the item will be out of stock, and I've never seen a hidden tip on a shop and deliver.
@AlexShinn2 жыл бұрын
A big con to these orders is when a store doesn’t have an item. The substitution process can cost you a lot of time especially when the customer is unresponsive. Also your tip can/usually does decrease if you deliver without all the items because you can’t find it or they’re all out.

In my market, I get most of the Shop and Deliver orders during the week, especially after everyone has gone back home after work. People spent their whole day at work and in traffic, they are too lazy to go back out to do their own shopping. As opposed to weekends where everyone is out barbecuing and they have more time to go to the store. Also, I used to see them once every two weeks but a soon as I started accepting them more and more, the algorithm started sending them my way way more often.

It must be the area I am in, but I usually see at least 1 shop and deliver order every time I go out. From my experience, do not take any order that is less than $1.00 per item ever. After doing a few with item counts higher than dollars for the order, I can tell you those less than $1.00 per item orders have no tip, and you are seeing just base pay. That applies to Uber Eats as well.

Sometimes I like shopping, if isn’t a lot of items and if the items aren’t medicines (harder to find). Once I made one from Target $33 for 52 items in 1:15 hour until delivery, it was stressful!!!! Today I made one of $26 from PetSmart, 74 crickets, but they put it in a bag in just 3 minutes, to deliver 2.3 miles. It was amazing!!!! The more quantity items, they pay more.

I see shop and deliver orders often as there are not only two Walgreens leading up to my preferred hotspot here in northern Utah, but I also regularly park at a Walgreens with good proximity to other places to deliver. Those shop & deliver orders are the easiest since I’m already there, and they tend to pay a good amount.

I love S&D on Doordash. I can use my loyalty/rewards. I'm racking up tons of points. Uber specifically says not to use them. I like how we scan the item and it'll let you know if it's the wrong item. Uber doesn't do that. Less mistakes.

Shop and deliver is pretty random where I am at. I think the key is the number of items, and checking out the list of items while on the way to the store. So you can get an idea of your shopping path. I get a lot of Dollar General orders, it took me a while to get used to those stores because they look like a bomb hit them most times, but now better.

Shop and deliver are hit and miss for me. The last one I did was at Walgreens several weeks ago. I went in, shopped, went to pay, red card declined. Called support. Tried again. Tried a different register, kept calling support. After trying to check out for a half hour, I gave up. Called support for half pay and they turned me down. I was pissed because it wasn't my fault. The cashier said another dasher before me shopped the exact same items, and their card was declined, too.
@CadenMichnal Жыл бұрын
Brooo. I HATE shop and deliver. The only orders that have ever made me unassign is the red card shop and deliver. First order was an Albertsons, the customer wanted items that half of them were unavailable…and the time that takes to figure that out. Waste of time. 2nd my card got declined than I got dinged for it when I unassigned as this was realistically my only option. My recommendation is unless you know a stores layout like the back of your hand. Decline that thing faster than you can blink regardless of pay! An order that is 10 bucks for 2 miles is realistically 10 bucks for 15 miles after you factor in getting lost in a store, not finding items, and than the pay drop for less items…than hope your card works. It’s an absolute sham.
@JTStonne2 жыл бұрын
I hate red card orders. My area is crazy and there's never a dedicated cashier. So there's always a long time to get a cashier plus calling for substitutions. I won't do them again. My last one was Pet Smart. One bag of live crickets, $3.75 ,16 miles into the surrounding county. $1 tip plus 14 miles back into area.

personally in my market, I would never take a shop and deliver. The payouts are usually low, no tip included. But the biggest issue is on a whim. I did take a shop and deliver order. It had a higher payout around $6.50 and it was just one item. Then I get to Walgreens and find out it's not one item. It's two big items. And to make matters worse, it was delivering to a nursing home facility so the person whom the order was for didn't actually know they had something coming. I felt good that I was able to help someone who absolutely couldn't get the stuff on their own. However, I was duped because I thought this is going to be one small item. It's not going to be that hard and it turned out to take a lot more time than it was worth. It took around an hour to deliver and I could have been working, picking up smaller orders and achieve more in that time.
@adamulrich7582 жыл бұрын
I usually do pretty well with the shop orders. My biggest gripe is when the scanner on the app isn't working. I'll stand there trying to scan for almost a minutes, then try to manually put barcode in and it still won't work. Doesn't happen all the time, but it's infuriating when it happens.

As someone who has dashed in damn near every state and major city, shop and deliver orders basically depend on where I am. If I'm in a good market I would never in a million years do a shop and deliver, however if you live in a slower market or a market that has slow times then they can be great. You just have to learn and memorize where most stuff us (even though the app does its best to tell you)....I can go into the grocery store and get a whole basket full in like 15 mins or less because I know where most stuff already is. If you're quick at the shopping part, then these orders are easy and profitable. If you are slow, don't do it. If it's your first time, do Walgreens or CVS, those are the easiest and quickest

I used to see awesome ones, $20 for 9 items, $25 for 18 items(multiple doubles, like 12 items were yogurts alone), so really it was like 7 separate items, all in stock, $8.50 for one 24 pk to the neighborhood right behind the store, $10 for one jar of Nutella, $15 for 7 items all dairy. Generally I like shop and deliver but haven't seen the huge payouts recently, they're like 'right time right place' type of thing, I was dashing late at night near home in the meijer parking lot and got 2 orders probably 40 total for just a few items each. I particularly like the Target and Acme shop and deliver orders in my area. They have great payouts for me and I'm a fast shopper. I'll do CVS and Walgreens if the payout is worth it. Never BJs or Costco. I also never do DD restaurant red card orders. On Uber, the shop and deliver orders are not as good but I'll occasionally take a good one. Shop and deliver orders are the shits. The stores inventory system doesn’t communicate with DoorDash, so DoorDash allows a customer to order whatever they want and they then send the order to the driver. Now it’s the drivers responsibility to notify customer of out of stocks and negotiate substitutions which is absolutely ridiculous. My most recent and likely last shop and deliver order came today from Super Target. 3.1 miles, 4 items. $11.75 payout. 3 of the 4 items were out of stock. And all 4 items were located in 2 different aisles next to each other. Should’ve took me 3 minutes max to shop it, took 27 minutes before I could get to the checkout line. It total, wrapped up 50 minutes of my time. Shop and deliver orders are always like that, DoorDash, Uber, Instacart, don’t matter. 99% of the time. So much wasted time for never any additional pay, ever. I was ready to put my fist through a wall today.

Why take orders that are high miles ? Like 9 mi for $11 lol or $5.50 for 4.9 miles
@vernalsiamang2232 жыл бұрын
In the Utah markets sometimes the route matters more than the mileage. Driving 12 miles down a highway can be faster than 4 miles in residential areas with low speed limits and several lights to wait at, which is important if you’re looking at a $/hour ratio rather than a $/mile ratio. It’s also pretty rare to find high $/mile orders in Utah because some restaurant chains are unreasonably spread out (i.e there isn’t a Jersey Mike’s in Salt Lake City, so Dashers in adjacent cities may have to deliver Jersey Mike’s several miles on a low tip) and it causes the customer to not understand the distance well enough to tip good.

I see them a lot in the early evening. If it is a grocery store, some will organize your trip and these will take a 10 to 25 item order and you can complete it in 30 minutes plus travel time. I do a ton of Albertson's orders like this. There are stores like Dollar General where you may have a hard time with a 5 item order just because they won't organize anything. These stores may or may not have anything. I avoid DG CVS and Walgreen orders may be tough in your first trip or two. Once you know one store, all stores are alike so it can become quicker. Just don't spend a lot of time looking for items. Ask for help. Seasonal orders like valantines or easter will run into outages and no substitute is available. Let Customers know what is available so they can do smart substitutions. Decline at $5 or less. watch distances. Petsmart like to send you 20 miles for an order. Many times a customer will combine a restaurant order with a Dollar General order. Don't be afraid. It is usually a drink or a dessert at DG. I have had toilot paper so that was a predictable restaurant they were ordering from. Keep the restaurant order in the hot bag and get their order fast. I do have an organizer in my trunk that I use to deliver the groceries. Can save you many a step.
