World domination 95, indeed. I was only 13 back then. Now, 13 years have passed and this demo still makes me put on a smile.

With this excellent demo from Complex they took the stick which FC passed on to a new generation of sceners. At the gathering 1995, the demo computer was a Pentium 100mhz. The demo actually runs well on a 486dx33 if you have a GUS. Stavanger Idrettshall was the place.. a huge demoscreen, a huge soundsystem.. perfect for this demo. The Os2 cd's, the chaos when all guards were ordered to get to the front doors.. NOW.. Magne Harestad.. :) Ah good memories.

Watching the 28 channels of "Dope.mod" play in Fastrakker 2 was an spectacle I'll never forget. Twenty eight channels, man.

The demoscene is a phenomenon of global culture. Possibly one of the first global ones to occur naturally. I share a deep sense of belonging to something that we are all part of.... something that can't be corrupted or touched.... something that can only be alluded to in code and something that can only run on a microprocessor.... and it calls to me like the voices toward the middle of this track...

I have to listen this almost every day. Nowadays I'm a bit nostalgic. Thank you all the demogroups for those years.

I love the way they did the "multiple light sources" bit -- it's actually an environment map which itself is a black&white photo of a passed-out coder.

I just recently found this mod while browsing mod archive. It immideately dropped into my favorites folder

Excellent, brings back memories. If I remember correctly, the music had like 64 channels, and could be played properly only on a Gus and Soundblaster Awe32 soundcards...

Talisare, I don't remember the size of it, but the screen was enormous together with the speakers from a classmate's disco rentage. Great memories ;)

Fuxor all you haters. Its all about the tune and the presentation. Try to deny it. This was one of the first assembly demos that truly took everything another step forward. If you weren't a part of it then go play on twitter or something. Leave the rest of us to enjoy a masterpiece during our lifetimes.

Defo my fav MOD tune ever. I still wonder if Jugi knows how popular the tune he cooked up to accompany their demo would become...

I remember well the "7800 polys, oh it's fake" comments at that time. An excellent demo that was coded in asm iirc.

Actually this was able to run smoothly on a 486 sx-25mhz with a gus:D I remember seeing this one when it was released back in 1995 at Stavanger idrettshall. They had the biggest soundsystem and screen i had ever seen at a demoparty back then. Perfect for this demo. To bad that danish dude ran away with all the ticket money that year. Intrr.. The tune from the song was released in the mod contest at the same party if my memory serves me right and yes, it's slightly different:)

I'd like to see a modern remake of the same, showing the number of polys etc. that modern hardware and CPU's can handle... With the same soundtrack, of course.

While partially it was just BS for this one I agree it would be awesome to see the concept used, a GPU manufacturer should comission a demo like that to show off their latest or something.
@SleeperNO16 жыл бұрын
Ye, I agree. It's a pure "effects show off" demo from '95. I've seen 64k stuff being way more interesting, if looking apart from the music, ofc!

Maybe because DOSbox is an emulator, perhaps? Seriously, I'm really not surprised that it works on DOSbox. I'd be a whole lot more surprised if it worked on Vista's DOS emulation.

never really liked demo scene music apart maybe FC, REnaissance and the music in this demo. I remember hearing the track constantly on TV around the same time as the demo, it was used as a backing track in a holiday program, think it was place in the sun. Demo music quite often ended up on UK television one way or another.
