Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions!! "People Get Ready", "We're a Winner", "It's All Right", "Choice of Colors", "Fool for You", plus Mayfield's solo stuff. There's a lot here. There was a very good cover of "I'm So Proud" by the Main Ingredient that hit in 1971.

The Impressions. Are one of the most influential groups in American music history, not only in the U.S but abroad as well they had a big influence on early Jamaican music His catalog of music is HUGE!!.By the time he was 25 he had written over 125 songs. He was not only a singer a song writer. But a musician, producer. A poet, a musical Lyricist. In the early 60s He Was writing no only about love and heart break, but also about black pride. racial equity standing up for your rights And after he left the impressions thats when he really started to write about very controversial issues like Poverty, drugs. Listen to the superfly album. And if you are able take listen to the five stair steps. the first family of soul they were protege's of Curtis. If you can listen to their Records which are to many to post here. They also have an interesting story. Could have recorded for Motown. But their father turned The record deal down✌️❤️✊

@@Dabridge4009 well the story is ( and I think there is a video on KZbin where kenni burke is being interviewed and he collaborate story )they won a talent contest at the regal theater in Chicago. And on the same show were five brothers from Gary Indiana. The five stair steps won the contest. There was a talent scout in the audience asked them to come to Motown to audition They were offered a contract, but the father turned it down because Motown wanted to have full control over the group Their father wanted more say, more freedom over what his kids recorded ( he was also their manager)As well as songwriting right. luckily Fred Cash who was a member of the impression and their neighbor introduced them to Curtis Mayfield. These kids were not only singers, but very talented musicians as well. A lot of their recordings were co- written by Clarence Jr and his father. I'm telling you if you ever get the chance please listen to them.Never made it as huge as the J5. No disrespect to the J5, but these kid..... Well listen and you will see what I mean.✌️

Absolutely a beautiful song. Try listening to Little Anthony and The Imperials - Hurt So Bad. He sings with such emotion that you can tell he’s feeling/living what he’s singing. All this 50 and 60’s music was before all the auto tune stuff. The singers had to have a voice or there was no recording contract. Also try Chances Are by Johnny Mathis.
