Never heard of the hot brassing technique. How fascinating. The end result looks lovely. Finding a real brass wire wheel might be the biggest challenge though. 👌👏👏👍😀

Thanks boltonky Although I did find out after the fact that the technique is best applied to mild or carbon steels as cast iron has special heat requirements or it's prone to cracking. Seems I got lucky that time as my casting has an intentional split round the back which allowed it to expand and contract without doing any damage.

I like your applying brass to the heated metal. I may need to try the same at home.

Just be mindful that cast iron can warp or crack if unevenly heated. I managed to get away with it as there's a split down the back of the casting that allowed the metal to flex and expand freely.
