Aussie DIY'er here...after years of using cheap pre-configured belts, and shopping baskets to lug gear around, I picked up some Toughbuilt gear. Great move. Because DIY'ers have such a diverse range of jobs, having different bag setups able to be swapped in and out saves a lifetime of rooting around in tool cabinets and dark shed corners before every job.

As a telecommunications engineer who is up a pole one minute, then the side of a building or working underground the next, I can vouch for this stuff. I currently use the contractors pouch, extra large drill holster for my Milwaukee impact drill (as it has a really bulky shape), standard holster for screwdriver drill and the belt. I love how easy it is to switch the stuff up and love the stand. Haven't had to lug my toolbox around for ages now, which I'm thankful for.

I remember my boss gave me a scale which is 12" flexible ruler that's measurements are .020 of inch . It help me grow as employee and I collected a bunch of tools that I paid for out my bonus the tools where to help me and the company ..ever time my boss would ask to borrow a special tool . I love this system. I'm an apprentice electrician and one of my journeyman uses this system in conjunction with a milwaukee packout backpack, he uses the drill holster with a small electricians pouch and a random pouch for fasteners and whatnot. I ordered the belt, the drill holster, the supply pouch for wire nuts and staples, and the journeyman's electrician pouch as I do not have a separate bag to keep my tools in, so having all in one bag will be nice. Once I advance in the trade I may end up getting the tote or the master electricians pouch to house any additional tools I may end up getting, but for now the journeyman's will house all that I have with a few pockets left over.

the clips thenselves also work great on regular belts (leather or the Klein 2" webbing-fabric), because the clips can open up and you can slip them in behind. And a clip system is great when doing service calls (jumping & out of the truck all day), or just going for lunch.

As a general contractor/framer I’d say that the belt is alright. Had to warranty it because the stitching rips. The tougbuild suspenders are honestly pretty bad the clips break after about a few months of use for me. The clip system for the pouches is convenient to dump snow and sawdust out or to take pouches off when you don’t need them (I pretty much always need them) but I don’t think this is the reason you should buy the belt. Whenever you put the belt down it pretty much dumps half your tools/nails/screws out of it if you’re not careful. I’d give it a 6/10.

I’ve have loads of this system. Like it a lot. Only complaint is how stiff the larger pockets are, it make you feel very wide. I’ve bolted a second clip to the other side of the tote. That way my left and right pouch can live on the tote and my belt has no tools directly on it.I can carry my tote in and workout of it or pop my belt on and my primary tools come off the tote and straight onto belt. A few tweaks and this could be an incredible system for a pro or a diyer. It’s the only reason I’ve not got a diamond back or similar is I would miss the detachable pouches.

Good review and nice bag system. I have three belts from Occidental (carpentry, electrical and drywall) as well as bunch of smaller pouches I've tried over the years. I always go back to my original three belts. All the other ones are unused and accumulating dust. I can appreciate a system like the Tough Built one and can certainly understand its attractiveness to a home homeowner or serious DIYer. I've had over 25 years of use on my carpenter setup and around 15 for my electrical and drywall ones. They are leather and are still in ok condition. I wonder how the tough built pouches and especially the belt would fare up on with 500+ nails, racks and all the required tools on daily use?
@DoresoomReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, as a DIYer it's awesome, but I can see wanting a dedicated system if you're in the trades. I've been using mine for about two years without any problems. They get use at least once a week on random projects. I figure it's only a matter of time before I break a clip, but that's much more preferable than breaking the bag's interface. I think they're designed to have the clip a little weaker since those are only a few bucks to replace.

I got a set and never liked them. Concept is brilliant. Unfortunately, the pouches stay open too much and climbing around, fasteners bounce out. Also, if the tools are short, they slide in the bottom of the bag. Short 4” shaft screwdrivers, razor knifes, etc end up dropping in the bottom.

Thinking if I cut the flap off on that one, and a slit in the bottom, I can slip a pair of flatbars in there if I'm doing demolition. Or, as I like to call it, deconstruction.

The velcro is holding up well on mine so far, but you're right - it's less durable than a sturdy buckle.
