Dorian

I noticed that Dorian, structurally, is like the fourth Minor scale (it's the 4th possible combination of 6/7 natural/flat) so out of curiosity went looking for "Dorian fourth minor scale" and found this video... so now I get to add another arrow in my quiver and can never forget it due to how it occurred... THANK YOU!!!

Greeks from Asia Minor had been using these modes. When Smyrna (Ismir in turkish) was burned down they immigrated to Greece, and greek music was injected with these influences. Anyway, I didn't know about "Dor". That's very interesting and I'll do my research about Doina. Thank you.

I am Romanian as well. My mother born and raised there and my father born and raised in Canada, but both of his parents immigrated from Romania. I play guitar and never knew until a couple years ago, that there was a "Romanian Scale".

If you want to study the Doina, I suggest on You Tube: Doina Maria Tanase and/or Doina Gheorghe Zamfir Also in Greece there is a Romanian population called Aromanians/Vlachs who perform the Doina. Did you know that in Romanian "Dor" (Dorian) means 'nostalgy' and that the famous Romanian style of songs "Doina" is in effect a song on..."dor"? It would be nice to hear you play a doina. @mkouros Να ξερεις, ο ρουμανικος τροπος ειναι ουσιαστικα μια αρμονικη ελασσονα κλιμακα που αρχιζει και τελειωνει στην 4η. Εδω, δηλαδη, που παιζω σε ρουμανικο απο ρε, ειναι μια λα ελασσονα αρμονικη που αρχιζει απο ρε και τελειωνει σε ρε. Γι΄αυτο λεμε οτι ειναι τροπος και οχι κλιμακα. Παιζεις δηλαδη μια κλιμακα με διαφορετικο τροπο.
