Naive and aloof are the primary factors at what make you a teenager. It wouldn't be a very likable character if he was a badass able to defeat his dad soon as the show starts , he grows, developes, loses, learns thats life as a teen. Remember he never had a good parental upbringing So all he learned was fighting and basic rules of life on his own pretty much, yes he is a martial genius but with no teacher and a specimen with no guide. Mike Tyson is a real world example at what baki went thru and how no tutelage can do to a teen vs what a good role model can do made him the baddest man on the planet. That growth of baki shown is what makes this show truly a masterpiece. (Besides the dope azz fights and cool characters)
