I am actually a designer, 20 years on the web design field, who always used “design tools” from flash to dreamweaver, to Photoshop to fireworks to sketch to figma, to end up discovering that html, css and js are the best design tools out there. You simply have to learn to design directly in the medium you will build for

Really happy to see your exploring UX/UI from a Devs perspective. As someone currently learning web dev, UX/UI is something I’m really interested in and I would be interested to learn more about how to incorporate these design techniques into the web dev process. More like this please Dorian! 👌👌👌

Thank you very much, Dorian. I am really glad about the video as I have been wondering about the science of coding and copying and passing in the area. This is a wonderful video.

What's funny is I picked up html/css but not super in depth, as in I knew how to create framework of a website with css grid and specifically used grid-template-area for sections, and then I moved onto Javascript. But when I tried to make a website to my standard I realized how many little holes I still had to fill in with CSS and containing everything properly. After a couple weeks of 6-8hour grind sessions alot of those holes filled in ESPECIALLY with making everything responsive on all platforms and keeping everything within the grid. There's so many little bits you have to pick up with CSS that I feel like most new developers (including myself) skipped over to get to the big chunk (Javascript). The best advice I would say is to really stop watching KZbin tutorials and all that stuff and just get your hands dirty by trying to clone a site, and you'll expose your knowledge base much quicker than you think lol. I personally use: Grid-template-colloums Grid-temllate-rows And then I define all the sections with: grid template-areas. And within those grid cells I use flexbox for most of the content adjustments. Learn your positioning and learn how to use grid and flexbox together folks. It's very important, then start to learn all the minor things and properties used for animation ect to make a site look fresh and nice. If any newbies need some pointers just ask in the comments and I'll do my best to try and help any brand new people who still struggle with centering divs lol

I had an issue where I had a nav bar fixed to the top of the screen and then I had a hamburger button that would open a drop down menu. The issue I had is for a split second the animation would go over the nav bar items and I couldn't figure how to put it behind. My first thought was z-index but no luck.

Hey man.. give some projects which will improve our overall css knowledge

@JOJO-kh9ck sorry, I use React now and am focusing more on the backend of development and use MaterialUI/Bootstrap components for my frontend. so I no longer even make CSS grid projects as I'm past that in my journey. I never cared to upload my projects that I did make (SpaceX clone, KZbin Clone (few spinoffs in-between)) to github as I just cared about advancing to the next part of learning after I fully understood the concepts when I got my hands dirty. There is no secret or anything. Just make your own stuff, and the holes will naturally fill. Everything in development is about understanding the abstraction first, then getting a strong grasp on algorithms. Data structures are easy to understand but algorithms can take a bit more pondering as they vary and it's hard to imagine IRL use cases. Sleep good, eat healthy and brute force projects. I will happily post my portfolio website after I am done with my current React projects

Thanks for this video. It helped me to be sure about why I don’t like front end development so much… because it better requires to have skills in UI/UX, i. e., to have some artistic skills to make good looking websites and I am not good at that department…

I have to pick between UX or front-end studying program. Could someone offer me advice on how to decide if you are already in the industry? I love ux, but I understand it's also much harder to land a job nowadays with it. Is UI developer path the good solution?

I don't like Tailwind. Like you said, it's too damn much. Why not just write the css.
