If you could cover the UX cert that would be great. It seems that a lot of people (myself included) get confused with UI/UX and front end development..there seems to be a lot of overlap but at the same time not really. If you can shed light on this it be awesome.

It is 50$ a month regardless of how long it takes for you. If you finish it in one month, then you get the professional certificates for 50$. However if you take a year, then you get it for 600$. I have been going through both certificates. I have finished the first course in both IT support and Automation through python. Each course takes about a month if you want to understand the material well, but also go through it quickly. So on average, Id say it would take at least 3 months per certificate. However, something to note is that I started on the 2nd course in the automation certificate and it got a bit more difficult. They test you on the material through qwiklabs. You can audit the material too. I think alone, the course wont be enough. You will be added to a hiring list where you might get eyes on your resume from those companies, but unless you have projects, experience, or more education, then I dont think it will get you past help desk. They do stress that the course wont cover everything and you need to learn more by yourself in the course. I think I saw a review that called it a good appetizer for the Comptia A+ and it is eye catching for you resume. I think what people meant by revolutionizing education is that they made it a more accessible introduction. For 50$ a month, they do deliver and it is fun to learn.

I took the IT one....I only finished one if the 5 certs under IT. Having Google on your resume doesn't hurt even if it's for this course. Once completed, they provided a discount for comptia a+ and a career resources. I didn't take the a+ or use the career resources. I'm going for the UX design or Data Analytics next.

Don't waste your time google Certs aren't aren't worth the toilet paper it is printed on,most employers only recognize Comptia and Cisco, Most tech managers don't even know this google crap exists. Get an A+ and Network + from Comptia they are industry recognized and have been around for years employers and managers know of them.

I don't think it works like that. At the very minimum, you have to have an optimized resume and even then you may have to do a little bit of networking to get past those “hiring door keepers”. I don't know of ANY certification that'll automatically get you an interview let alone a job. These days, especially since the pandemic, even if you do get the interview, your success on landing the job depends more on your social skills or business acumen than your actual skills. I've heard too many people getting jobs not just solely based on their tech skills. Even beating out the more technically qualified candidates. Certifications or degrees are basically designed to just grab the attention of the recruiters or hiring managers. Many employers want to see if you would be a great fit for their culture instead. Everything else is pretty much just a bonus.

I am signing up for the UX/UI course. Its for beginners and the field peaked my interest. I figure I'll take it and get it done in 3 months, so it'll be around $150-$200 total. Not a lot to lose and we're all on lockdown anyway. Doing the beginners course will help me decide if UX/UI design is for me and if I want to pay for a boot camp. Anyway, I'm following and look forward to your feedback.

They difficulty level was adequate and number of testst projects and exercice was huge. Personaly did't done this Google IT support but it is v popular over 500 000 done it. It won't make a programmer in 3-6months but should give a solid fundation. IT needs 10 people for 1 programmer ??? This should give a good chance to get a job in IT.

UX Design - no way on earth will a course give you enough to get you a job. UX includes research and so much of it, UI you need a good graphics background. They are chalk and cheese and a real UX pro can really drill down stats to get the optimum results.

It's a headstart, I'm doing the courses and these courses clarify that the certifications alone won't be enough but they share a lot of ways, tips and tricks which give you enough of a headstart to know what to do once you're done with all 7. Of course you need to know more but it's probably enough just enough to land an internship role at an early stage startup

This program also prepares you for the CompTIA A+ exams, the industry standard certification for IT- you’ll earn a dual credential when you complete both. Through a mix of video lectures, quizzes, and hands-on labs, you’ll get introduced to troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration, and security - foundational IT skills required for an entry-level role. You’ll hear from Googlers whose foundations in IT support, served as launchpads for their own careers. By dedicating ~5 hours a week, you can complete in 3-6 months. Basically, you gotta go earn the A+ as well, unless an employer is willing to overlook it. the A+ Cert is such a fucking pain if you're not grandfathered in.
@DorianDevelops4 жыл бұрын
I remember grinding out the A+ cert before I decided to learn how to code. It sucked and I'm glad that I found web development when I did because I really was not enjoying studying for the Net+ after earning the A+. Honestly the thought of having to continue down the cert path made me want to give up pursuing a job in IT all together.
