Oh, GOD BLESS HER !!...what a lady, what a gift, what an example of greatness inside and out !!!

She has a personality which is very pleasant, authentic (one of the most real in show business). Doris Day is no longer making appearances in public in her 90's now and naturally wants all her fans to remember her young and pretty. Carefully away from the critical press, she chose to age gracefully and privately. I love her grounded personality on and off the big screen.

There will NEVER, EVER be another DORIS DAY!!! She was one of a kind! Even her speaking voice much less her singing voice are incredible😢😮😅😊❤❤❤❤. She is immensely talented and so loving toward our four legged friends! A marvelous human being who will NEVER be forgotten!!! Notice how humble and modest she is in EVERYTHING she does or says! She was AWESOME! My heart was broken❤ when I heard she had passed from this world! NO ONE can EVER match her talent, her affection she had toward people and her four legged friends!❤❤❤❤ She has given us a lifetime of memories! You could watch a Doris Day movie or listen to her sing a song or just listen to her beautiful speaking voice and she could lift your spirit❤❤❤❤. AFTERALL, WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LIKE ABOUT HER????!!!!!!

It's lovely to see Doris win a Lifetime Achievement Award...good on her! I certainly think she deserved it. All the work she has done for the welfare of animals is brilliant. I have been a fan of hers for very many years. Doris is my favourite singer/actress of all time. I think she is an inspiration to very many people. Meryl Heasman.

There was an article in The New York Times within the last several months advocating that Doris Day be honored by the Oscars with a Lifetime Achievement Award. I agree wholeheartedly. Let's get the ball rolling on this.

Clint Eastwood and Doris Day should have done a movie in 1989 after this interview was given. If they filmed in Carmel I think Doris would have done it. Also the academy should give her an honorary Oscar. She can tape her response like Olivia de Havilland did when she accepted her Honorary Oscar some years ago.

First of all, I sincerely doubt that anyone would be anything but respectful to her, but that's a moot point if she decided not to go. She certainly deserved the honor. Her contribution to the arts has been enormous. Over 650 recordings, movies, television show. As for her decision, it's not for any one of us to be "okay" with it or not; it's no one's business but her own.

It's her choice. Apparently, Miss Day does not want the adverse publicity of her being seen in public at her age. They would rip her apart. The Globe alone would choose the worst photos of her for their cover. Our culture is no longer respectful of people who are in their 80s, except for B. White, who never was a gorgeous movie star like Doris. I'm okay with D's decision. She has entertained me all of my life and the most I can give back is my respect for her decision and my support. ~Lauren

Why is there a confusion on her year of birth? Some sources list her birth year as 1922, others say 1924.

She was born in 1924. Why the confusion? We just found this out on her birthday - Saturday 4/3/10 in Carmel. Her good friend told us at the Doris Tribute Concert. Because her mother had to lie about her real age (16)...one had to be 18 to be in the Big Bands, thus the two year discrepancy! True story.

@Dayniac4324 Doris wasn't that interested in working. She only wanted to do it from Carmel. It's a pity. She's so wonderful. Now Doris is 86, probably won't show up again in a project.

The Oscar people wanted to present DD w/ an Oscar, but they wanted her to be in L.A. to accept it in person. She said, "No." This was several yrs ago. I don't think she would go for a taped response back then and certain not now. As far as the Eastwood thing - DD turned down a film because other producers found it too expensive to do entire movie in Carmel. Same for Eastwood probably. Doris needed to have more flexibility for both opportunities.
