Editing Donna I wish they'd recreate the vintage patterns. Especially the Claire McCardals. I had one dress that my mother got as a hand me down in 1958 (she wore it when she was pregnant with me...unbelted) and I wore it to work at SAKs in the late 70s. A customer mentioned that she had one just like it in the 50s. Still pine for it....worn to a rag...like most of her designs.

I'm here because of a passion for design reawakened by my favourite TV show Outlander & their amazing costume designer, Terry Dresbach. I'm late to the comments. Though the McGregor item does look suggestive, I recognized the moves right away as saving techniques. My father was a lifeguard in the late 1940s and would show me how to grab someone especially if that person was in a very frantic state in order for the lifeguard to gain control and swim to safety. I have my mother's 1958 black Jantzen swimsuit in the family collection along with a photo of my father and my mother with her wearing the suit when they were dating. Thank you for the video.

Liz Martin You should have had parents like mine. Both have passed away now, but mom was born in 1919 & dad in 1921, & they never threw anything out. I think because they grew up in the 1930's they believed in making things last so they always looked after their things well, & had them forever. They left some fascinating things for my sister & me.

I totally miss your show, and I bought all the episodes that Smithsonian has available (sadly not season one.) I don't need the manufactured drama, I will happily listen to you talk about vintage fashion any time! so happy to find your channel. Also, I used to sell vintage clothing a couple of decades ago (I am still a dealer but of collectibles) my best swimsuit find was a Pucci piece with an early label from his first shop in Capri (I think it was, this was 20 years ago.) I bought it at a vintage clothing store and sold it on ebay to a very prominent collector.

That cherry ensemble is utterly darling! You’ve mentioned that you don’t carry menswear pieces, but I’ve noticed that a lot of the womenswear pieces you’ve shown on both “Frock Stars” as well as your shop’s Instagram would look great in the wardrobe of a daring or eccentric man. Like that terry cloth Hermès robe (that looks SO much like recent Gucci by Alessandro Michele) - it’d look smashing as a streetwear-inspired cardigan on anyone regardless of gender.

The Way We Wore where is your store? May have to make a special trip. Studied fashion in the seventies and found textiles and history so much more fascinating than modern day fashion. Although now those fashions are considered vintage. Found a 1977 September Issue and realized I finally got that herring bone Calvin Klein suit thrifting over the past twenty years....and the dye lots actually matched. Not all the 70s were Quiana and rhinestones.
