Thanks so much! I would say everyone's preference is different when finding a dorm, but I absolutely love Lander!

That depends on the person. I lived in lander from august 2019 to march 2020 (pandemic), and it was really nice! Large rooms, private bathrooms, newer dorm (no heat or fire-alarm issues), West Campus (in the city!) and not too far from classes! I also got a lot of exercise from walking up hills every day.

This is Lander! What helped me so much was asking anyone I knew at UW for their opinions and also looking at the HFS website online!

Lander. I would first recommend any dorm on West Campus, starting with Lander or Maple, then Elm, Poplar, and Terry, followed by Alder. If those aren't available, try Oak, Willow, or McCarty followed by Madrona.

I believe some of them are still communal, but most of them have private bathrooms! You can look more in detail on the UW HFS website :)

All rooms on West Campus (Alder, Elm, Lander, Maple, Poplar, Terry), as well as all rooms in McCarty and Willow (New North Campus), and half of Madrona, feature private bathrooms. Older North Campus buildings do not have private bathrooms, however: McMahon Hall has semi-private bathrooms (shared with a group of eight), and Hansee Hall has community bathrooms.

No it's not! You can choose to live in an apartment or dorm or if you're interested in Greek life, a sorority/fraternity house!
