dorm tour spring 2021| washington university in st. louis

a dorm/suite tour was requested, so here it is!!
to reiterate what was in the video, i live in shanedling hall which are traditional suite style dorms. although they arent as "nice" as modern dorms, i personally loved living here because the way our building is set up really helps you meet and bond with everyone

I just got assigned Shanedling!! Question: Does the building have elevators? I'm on the 4th floor and I'm wondering how move in is gonna go...

hi olivia!! so there are no elevators, but dont worry about move-in, there are lots of people to help you, i didnt have to move anything heavy myself, the student movers are really good and efficient at what they do, so dont worry about it as for walking up all the way to the 4th floor daily…… ummm think of it as your cardio for the day, especially if youre doing laundry :))

@@oliviatheodosakis7912 ahh sorry just saw this, the traditional ones have small mirrors where you can see shoulders up, i would def get a long mirror so you can check how your outfits look and such :))

Hi Emily, I am moving to st louis as well and I wanted to know you experience in the city life. Is it safe or not because I have read a lot of bad things online. I plan to live not on campus and will be traveling by the train and either by walking. Let me know your advice and impressions about the city.

Hello! I do not travel into the city very often and mostly stay on campus. Overall, as long as you stick to the areas heavily trafficked by WashU students, it is pretty safe. The metro stops between the Danforth Campus and the Med Campus are fine, but anything beyond those stops, I usually avoid especially at night.

in past years it was typically a sophomore dorm, but it was a first-year dorm this year and from what i know, it will be a first-year dorm next year as well

@@saragiannotti8930 in a normal year its not too common but definitely possible, most are in doubles since the dorms allocated to first-years are typically doubles and triples. By sophomore year most people are in singles though unless you get unlucky with housing selection times
