Well! Who knew?? This is fascinating. Is knob consistency important? Is the knob allowed to bounce before it's measured or is it all over as soon as it comes down? Do you have knobs all year round or are they seasonal?

A little late to the party so my apologies. Knobs are pretty consistent in their, er, consistency and are crispy throughout. From personal experience this sport is extremely difficult. Throw it too hard and it ether goes vertical or breaks up. Getting the right weight on your throw is the key, rather than brute force. Last time I attended a petite woman was overall winner. She had great technique which confounded some men who were giving it everything. You can get knobs all year round and are mainly available in the Bridport area. They go really well with the mysterious and elusive Dorset Blue Vinney cheese.

@@ivorbiggun710 I bought some on my way through to visit relatives, and we had them with soup and also gravy. You need good teeth to eat 'em with cheese!
