This is a series of explorations with my friend Dave Ford who has agreed to take me around the Jurassic Coastline in the smashing country of Dorset.
In our first video we set of from the tiny village of Worth Matravers down to the amazing Winspit Quarry, worked throughout history and used as a film and TV location in more recent times.

I discovered this place completely by accident July 2018 on a hike along the coast path on my last day. Having reached Dancing Ledge, & spotting my next my 'target' in the distance, I was pleasantly surprised by what I'd found there 😊 The nearby artillery range were active at the time so I stopped off at the small but delightful Square & Compass pub to 'refuel' before walking back to Swanage.

WOW!!! Incredible! Spectacular! That what so neat (the double cave entrance looked like it could have been Fred Flinstone's garage)!!! I agree w/ Dave as it looked the perfect place to explore. Amazing how it was right on the coast line like that too! And such an amazingly perfect day for this walk - the weather looked perfect! I do hope you go back & do a proper tour of Dorset though. That little stone village w/ the pond was just idealistic!!!👍👏🤝

I first visited Worth Matravers in 1982 on a Geography A level field trip, met a girl whose parents once owned Winspit Cottage. As children they stayed there for summer holidays of Famous Five type adventures. Sadly never met her again... :-(

The terraces on the hillside are known as strip lynchets. They are formed as soil slips down the hill after being disturbed by the plough over a period of time. They can be Celtic or Medieval.

as a result of your video.i started watching Blake 7 again.first time since I was a nipper . I didn't realise one of my favourite British actors appears in an early episode of series 1 (ep 03 Cygnus Alpha) Brian Blessed if people wish to revisit this sci-fi classic by terry nation you can via the blake 7 youtube channel every series is there with complete episodes, marvellous indeed ,what's funny the scary bits are quite laughable all these years later lol thank you again for posting..we have discussed this location and if weather stays nice plan to visit there next week..oh nearly forgot here's the great Tom Baker as the doctor in Destiny of the Daleks filmed there. for anyone who wishes to revisit the classic Dr who here's link kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaqcqnptf8eCldU
