Some of the advice like around 3:35 with "Take the right amount of steps" sounds so oversimplified and unhelpful but it's such genuinely fantastic advice that was helpful for me to hear! The editing timing up with the demos really makes the lessons you give super effective. You are really great at physically demonstrating mistakes and improper technique and you are also really great at demonstrating the proper technique a minute later. I feel like sometimes other badminton videos I've watched don't show much of a difference between the two 😅

For doubles, the most basic and important strategy is to go sides when you lift or clear and front-back when you smash or drop. And also to always be quick to pounce on drop shots or net shots which are too high.

The key point here is a tight net shot, after which a fast push cannot be hit. High clears will provide enough time to move, so the main focus here is a returned net shot.

Hi Steve, If you study Lin Dan's movement (yes I know he is a rather exceptional case, but!) he will often walk, run back from taking a shot deep in the corner rather than chasse. Rare as it may be, it clearly can be done effectively. Lin Dan is often an exception to the rule! 😆
@JacobsBadminton
@JacobsBadminton 2 жыл бұрын
Simon, not sure if you listen to the whole video but yes I agree he would walk back in certain situations, like after a clear or high lift. Don't think you'd see him walk back after an attacking drop shot.

@JacobsBadminton

Lechro, glad you enjoyed it. Your is is based on what shot your expecting and antipating what your opponent will hit. Of course that comes with practice and experience. If your not sure where the shuttle is going you'll need to do a dead split (Square and on the spot) and adjust as you push off.
