This Gigabyte GA-6WMMC7 motherboard that had been discovered in my parents attic collecting dust, is all that remains of the family workhorse. A machine that had been shared between myself and my three younger siblings, until I built my own system. This machine was then known as the Celerbanger, as it was a bit of an old banger, compared to my new rig.
What I first believed to be an Intel Celeron 500Mhz CPU, was actually an Intel Celeron 366Mhz CPU that had been overclocked to 500Mhz. This machine had been purchased in this state.
Perform an initial Dosbench at the stock 366Mhz speeds before overclocking the CPU to compare the difference in performance.

Yeah, it is not meant to be like that 😂 The VGA connector is a bit sketchy and needs a looking at. I'm genuinely surprised that it still works after being in the attic exposed to the heat and cold for over twenty years!

6WMMC7... was this originally an IBM board? I had one and it would always POST with an IBM BIOS. Never tried crossflashing it to the standard Award BIOS although IIRC IBM's board wasn't different from the retail version.

Not that I was aware of, but I have just done a little Google search, and it was apparently used in the IBM NetVista 6269, paired with an Intel Pentium III 800mhz.

no thermal paste on the cpu?

Back then, CPUs wouldn't get toasty unlike the nowadays ones. Therefore no Thermal paste is needed. (yes, a fan THIS tiny would adequitely cool a CPU without thermal paste back then. Something that wouldn't even REMOTELY work nowadays, lmao)

No, the CPU does not need any thermal paste to be applied. It will not get anywhere near hot enough, believe it or not. Earlier processors did not even require a heatsink... Just bare ceramic 😄
