I feel like the White Walker army should have made it down to KL but in order for that to happen the good guys would have had to be wiped out at Winterfell since there's no way an army could retreat from that. In the books the battles last for days so I'm assuming it will be the same for that battle if GRRM ever finishes his series

Her washing her hands of him is not exactly surprising. Her asking her brother about Daeron and being very relieved he was kind tells me she was thinking, "Oh good, I have one decent son, so fuck the other two monsters I've spawned. I'll keep that one."

Don't forget that Bloodraven, the "old guy in the tree" that Bran learns from, is also a Targaryen. The lore makes it pretty clear that Targaryen's lineage and link with dragons ("dragons are power") makes them the most vulnerable to being mediums to whatever force(s) are giving visions. Daenerys also has visions in the House of the Undying. The Red Priestesses can see the future in flames. Themes of prophecy swaying the course of events is all over the series.

The issue is the budget. The last 10 minutes is basically a pitch to Warner Bros. Discovery to give them more budget, because next season, there'll be a battle after every episode or two, that is how packed the storyline is. Due to the budget, they had to cut down the episodes to 8, and big set pieces to 2 episodes (Rook's Rest + the penultimate where they introduced 2 dragons). The first episode next season is a MASSIVE battle. They could've never chipped it in.

1. Budgeting 2. Season 1 ended with war being declared not prepared for 3. It’s not that easy and very time consuming for multiple armies to call in more armies for one side of the same royal family that’s having a civil war, on top of that traveling and getting everyone together for battles? It’s not like a video game they don’t just have a fast travel or skip cutscene option, one of the show’s and GOT factors of realism is the realistic depictions of how war starts and traveling from location to location in this time period. I think Ulf is acting as he should for someone who just came into power. Imagine upending your whole conception of the world in a few minutes. These people aren't gods any more than he is. And also Rhaenyra's trying to flex on him. Wearing her crown to the dinner table and talking about what she can offer him. In reality, what can she offer him? He could hop on his dragon, which is bigger than hers, and be gone yesterday. It's interesting that Hugh earlier talks of maybe becoming a lord and Rhaenyra at this meeting offers the promise of maybe becoming a knight, if it pleases her. A step up but not a lordship. Also, I think Anthony's tea leaf reading isn't correct. You may think you know where the show is going but I doubt it lol. Although they did straight up tell us how one person is going to die.

I think that people complaining about season 8 of GoT is the reason season 2 is dragging on. What it seems like some people didn't realize is that this season was about the early stages of the war, where's there's opening battles (especially Rook's Rest), but the two sides are busy getting all of their respective forces in place while trying desperately to see if there is any hope left for peace. The end of the season makes it clear those hopes are over, the two sides have their forces ready and all the armies, fleets and dragons are now on the move to the ultimate battle (with one or two surprises still about to drop, such as whether Rhaena claims the dragon Sheepstealer and when and for who the Greyjoys join the fight). S3 is going to be all about war. Be prepared for total bloodshed then. To quote Gandalf: "The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last, the great battle of our time."

This is just my opinion, but I believe Daemon is a better LEADER than Rhaenyra while Rhaenyra would make a better RULER. Daemon has experience leading a bunch of men with the Night Watch and fighting in the Stepstones. The biggest weakness to Daemon is his diplomacy. He's quicker making enemies than allies. Look at Aemond who is a copy of Daemon. Uses strong-arm tactics and brute force to get what he wants. They're both violent warmongers. But I don't believe Rhaenyra could survive a war without Daemon. Not to sound like a chauvinist, but I think you need a real man to lead during a time or in a country full of sexism. Daemon is the better leader because he's physically stronger, his dragon is stronger, and they're both battle-tested. Perhaps Rhaenyra would've won the war without Daemon seeing she has an army of bastards/dragonseeds to overwhelm the Greens, but watch the later events. Daemon is more familiar handling the smallfolk than Rhaenyra does. He would've handled Ulf better. The smallfolk is going to be a problem later. Daemon = Trump (same initials) Rhaenyra = Harris? (stay woke she said) “If you’re a man…who votes for a woman for President…you’re a Fa**ot…” - Melonie Mac Just because you're chosen to be the heir will not guarantee you will become a great leader, king, or queen. It takes years to learn how to lead a group of people or how to rule over them. It doesn't always come natural or it never does. Look at Daenerys or Aegon II. The weaknesses of Rhaenyra's rule will start showing itself by the end of S3 and start of S4. She's not big on promotions and rewards. Jaehaerys is regarded the GOAT king but he wasn't perfect. Was a terrible father and mistreated Saera. Showed his own sexism which led to this civil war. I'm still shaking my head with that Alicent scene with Rhaenyra. It took 8 episodes to get Daemon to the same conclusion he did at the end of S1. It only took a few episodes and a stroll in a forest for Alicent to betray her eldest sons. She pushed for Aegon to a position he never asked for. Son for a son that Rhaenyra asked? Did Alicent forget about Jaehaerys being killed? As evil and selfish Cersei was, she never stopped loving her children. She always had their back no matter what a monster Joffrey had become and she couldn't control him. She cried when he died only to get raped by Jaime next to Joffrey's corpse. Through all her faults, Cersei was a better mother than Alicent even when Joffrey started hearing rumors Cersei was having sex with Jaime. And Cersei did spare Sansa's life. Alicent's character arc is all over the place. One minute, she's a goody-goody conservative girl who obeys her father. Next thing you know, she's getting smashed by Criston. Then she gets banished from Aemond from the small council. She realizes she's useless because she's not a dragon rider. Now she's selling out her sons in order to live? WTF? Yet, only 5 episodes earlier, she told Rhaenyra that it's too late, right? The moment Alicent finds out Rhaenyra is stacked with dragons with riders on them, Alicent is waving the white flag from a war she accidentally started and giving the go on having Aegon beheaded to put him out of his misery. The same woman who screwed up thinking it's her Aegon that Viserys was talking about. Talk about a terrible mother, traitor, and hypocrite. Shame too because I think Olivia Cooke is a phenomenal actress. One of the best among the cast. But she got a role to portray a shitty character that's written even shittier this season. Blame Ryan Condal and Sara Hess. The latter is an activist. Not a writer. She worked on Orange is the New Black full of lesbian prisoners. I know everyone is saying "see you in 2 years" to most House of the Dragon reactors like SeanTankTop's Burlington Bar. Well, it's only 10 months. June 15, 2025 is only about 10 months from now. I know Dunk & Egg is a pretty quick read. Could finish it within an afternoon. But I will not read it. I think reading about the Dance of the Dragons kinda ruined my enjoyment watching HOT D because I have these expectations for certain events to happen a certain way and we don't always get that. I want to go into A Knight of the Seven Kingdom completely unaware about the story. I do know how Baelor dies but that's all I know.

HBO cut the season from 10 to 8 after it had been written up then there were writer strikes that impacted them being able to rearrange it to its best. Thats why it feels a little oddly paced at times and cut short, because it basically was 😅. Definitely had its problems but still an amazing season, especially considering the problems they had. I don't disagree with you guys. Nothing really happens in this episode, only teases of things that may happen. There were some good things here but not enough to make a good finale. GoT season 4 finale was my favourite. Things happened. Chapters were closed and new chapters were coming. Perfect blend of closure and anticipation.

Warner Bros unfortunately cut the budget for HOTD & from 10 episodes to 8 (they also only informed them 2 months before filming was to begin bit of a d*ck move ngl). Ryan & team had to make a choice whether to shoehorn in a battle with an inferior budget in only 8 episodes potentially disappointing everyone with a lack luster battle or instead save the last 2 episodes of the original script for Season 3's budget but getting to go all out with the battle.

If we got 2 more episodes for this season I think it would have been better, UNLESS its because things are about to go at a breakneck pace from here on and there wouldnt have been another good stopping point for the season end

I think there's three main reasons. One of the major points of this season was how slow the beginning of wars go. You have to get soldiers across an entire country on foot. And raising an army itself is time consuming work. This season was the war of quills that decides the stakes for the war of swords. The second major reason is that this season seems to center around Daemon, Rhaenyra, and Alicent doing some introspection. We've now had Rhaenyra accept the need for violence, Daemon accept Rhaenyra as Queen, and Alicent accept that Aemond is too far gone. All the characters went through a personal journey. The third major reason is that the show simply does not have the budget to do both Rook's Rest and the next episode in the same season. Next episode will be very big.

They either would've had to cut down on the quantity of dragons or they would have to push it back a season.

I think we need to remember that this show does have a budget and the amount and quality of the CGI they use is very expensive. I honestly don't think they could afford to give us another major battle this season. I'm more let down because I see wide changes from the source material and it makes me nervous because this is how GoT started going downhill. They need to ease up on their fanfiction.

I really hate what they did with GoT S7-8 cause Daemon's Vision means nothing at all. Neither Daenerys or Jon Snow were the prince that was promised even tho both of them fit the prophecy to a certain extent meanwhile Arya didnt at all. Daenerys didnt change anything with the war for the dawn she just circled around with her dragons for a bit and Jon Snow didnt even kill the Night King. Light Bringer wasnt even made. They need to do a reboot of GoT ong.

I absolutely do not give a fuck about those visions because S7-S8 were so so terrible. On the flip side, if the ending of GoT had been even halfway decent, those visions might have been some of the most hype stuff of the show, really giving us a view of what's really at stake in this war.
