Love the video, and mad props for helping your mom out. But for every 10$ spent on fast food in your 20s instead of going into investments (assuming 10%, S&P500) is about 400$ lost in retirement. If you cut out uber eats completely, just in your 20s and put that 200$ into an index fund, you can have well over $500K by the time you retire.

@@LeftBehind666 you are retired at age 25? You already have enough money to last you for the next 65 years? Regardless, you invest a portion of your income while you are working so that the money can grow and eventually exceed how much you put into it. Then when you retire, you can stop working and sell your investments to live off of. So no, you don’t generally invest more money in retirement since you have no income. You are doing the opposite and selling investments. Hopefully your investment portfolio is large enough that you can sell about 4% each year. Doing this you will be unlikely to run out of money.

Try to save at least 100k+ and invest in some in solid stocks and index ETFs. Not fly by night long shots. And last thing, Make sure that you invest in your company’s 401(k) plan. If you don’t do anything else but invest up to the companies match, please do that that’s free money.

Hey dude, honestly get out of there and move on as fast as you can to a new job. I was being underpaid similarly (3 YOE) but I wasn't working in a city and got to work full time remote for ~2 years so there was some positives. Was trying to leave in the last year anyways but the job market was (and still kinda is) trash. I fully recommend trying to apply now and at least get the voice out. The worst thing to do is stay loyal to a company (no matter how nice they project themselves to be) especially when they underpay you and make excuses not to raise your salary.

He lives off only his base salary and still saves 1k a month from it. He completely pockets his equity portion. He makes 240 TC and saves ~85k a year after tax. He says he's living it up, but he is far closer to frugal than extravagant. Every year he can buy an entire tesla + fly first class + spend a week at maldives but saves it instead.

Man US is another beast. I work for around $43.000 with the same experience, I am based in a Balkan country. And this is above average here for such experience. I'm a DevOps engineer with Bachelors and Masters degree in Telecommunications and Computer Science.

I noticed that you don't have any investments in your budget. You should really get on that! At your age, time is on your side. Compound interest would make you an easy millionaire by retirement. The best thing you can do for yourself is start contributing to a target date index fund in your 401k. The longer you wait, the more money you will have to save.

What's sad is I'm paid well within the country (4x the average for my age). IDK how people survive on the average salary.

Your method of video delivery is very unique and way tight, your plug even flowed with the content. I'm just glad I had nothing in my mouth when you mentioned the amount you pay for rent. Also I think you're missing a '9' on the adobe sub, and common wisdom would say good for you, go to Japan, hell yeah but save 50%, not just 25% (I actually learned that from what Shaq learned from wealthy people he hangs out with)

Based on the few comments that I've seen I know your not intentionally doing this, but I believe it would be helpful to break down what your paying down into your pre-tax stuff, as it makes a difference between what your actual take home pay is as well as how much your putting down into your retirement. For example, for me I make around 120k, 5% goes into 401k right now, with the rest going to insurance funds. My total pre tax is 532, with 233 going into my 401k 116 going into an HSA account, with my takehome being around 2875, and after paying rent and bills, being 1860 which goes to food or whatever else. This next year I'm deciding that I want to increase my 401k contributions since now I have enough of a cushion to be comfortable doing that with to get the maximum that I can get, which I've calculated for my income to be 18% of what I currently make, which makes it around 841. I've also reduced my insurance for my medical to be roughly now 78 dollars instead of the 178 that I was paying before, so my pre-tax now is around 1048.65, for medical, dental, and contributions to my HSA. So, to me at least for retirement and medical funds 841 now would go to my 401k, and 125 dollars goes to my HSA account, while before it being 223 dollars to my 401k and 116 to my HSA. You would think I would lose around 600 dollars to my actual take home pay, but thats not what happens. I only lose 350 dollars, because the tax event happens AFTER you send money to your pre-tax expenses, so I'm taxed after spending the 1041 dollars. So I would now bring 2500 as my take home pay, and after bills and rent goes to 1507 to everything else. So right now the money that will be going to me starting next year would be going to me would be 3841 biweekly, with a pretax income biweekly of 4673.96 I think it's good to mention stuff like this, as until recently I didn't really have a good understanding of tax advantages that I could've been taking advantage of when I was making a lower income bracket while still saving for retirement or medical expenses, as well as give a good picture of how much you really save once you reach a certain threshold for your expenses.

There's no job security and then you have AI automation which is why so many companies are laying off their employees. Lose the expensive apartment, Tesla, eating out, and other activities. That will save you at least $30K a year.

Thats a good amount of money for not having your own company. Im planning to make my own game development company(im currently 16 but when Im 22 I want to create it) but if I can't get that to happen I could earn a decent amount of money working for someone else or as a freelance developer.
