Dota has a good story despite being a mod from a 2003 game. Better lore than League of Losers. Speaking of, they _used_ to have a cute little lore tab on their shitty client they still have for some reason, it was charming. Still, Icefrog and the other writers are better story teller than Riot ever could be.

Isn't Doom a fallen skywrath? I mean, the only other creature that has his wing structure is Skywrath Mage and Venge. Doom(the ult) is very similar to Ancient Seal, aesthetically and in function. The fact that his wings were targeted to make him fall says that this realm of light was somewhere in the sky, a place you call physically fall from. Also, something that is quite interesting is that this is in his bio. "Without wings, he slipped loose from the tethers that bound him within the light and he fell screaming to earth." Skywrath can't attack the false queen because that would rend his magic powers useless. Is it maybe that his powers are in his wings? Are they "binding" him to serve the light. Just like what happened to Venge and Doom. They are now able to attack the false queen now that their wings are gone but Sky isn't. What is also interesting is these lines Terrorblade tell him "Are you an angel?" "Skywrath, what a fine demon you would make." Implying that first of all, he appears to be what the characters in Dota believe are angels. And Lucifer in the Bible used to be an angel before he fell. And the most interesting part is that this would make him a good candidate to be a demon just like Doom.

So a quick recap of what Slacks seems to suggest but doesn't quite go through to say; Doom is a skywrath member (very evident if comparing the skywrath inherent sealing spells that either silence or outright stun the unfortunate target, where Doom's ultimate might be his own twist on the seal of Avilliva) fallen out of the favor of the light, who then either took over the realm of hells or outright created it, Fiend was taken into servitude by Shadow Demon who was trying to take over Doom's dominion but Shadow Fiend being a demon sold him out to Lucifer, who naturally got enraged and put SD in his place, making him gradually weaker in the progress and leaving him plotting revenge. Remembering how in shadow demon's item descriptions it says he collected his body parts with little regard to looks rather than to utility, we could have a bit of an view point to demons' physiology, are they perhaps a spirit of some sort with powers to manipulate matter to make themselves a vessel to carry their taunted soul, if they possess one of their own in the first place. This also being a look into how different spirits manifest themselves in the light realms. As for the purpose of the souls being a highly sought after currency among demons it could be argued the demons use the souls either to maintain their essence, as to use them as sustenance, or just simply to enhance their own spirit to be more capable to manipulate the world around them. In Shadow Fiends arcana it in fact states he has consumed a soul or the essence of another demon, which would seem to indcate them having a soul comparable of those creatures dwelling in the light realm, misshaping the border between demons and the light creatures. Demons have those among them who still are very much living and retain their original bodies and whose soul remain in said body, as well as those who seem to have been untethered from their original form and are forced to gather more souls to feed their existence. I really liked the hierarchy idea presented here by Slacks nd how they might have a whole semi-industrialised echonomy, all being run on souls. They gradually seem to be creatures looked down upon and pretty much hunted by the light beings, which in turn brings a sinister tone to them as well. This, again, seems very reminiscient of the situation between Radiant and Dire who have no inherent morals but just a simple drive to destroy their competition.

His body shape is very different but hell, this even stands in his bio "Wings branded and visage twisted, the Fallen One bears little resemblance to his former self. "

Darko Mihajlovski, The idea he seemed to be hinting at when talking about the army of the light, that Kotl-of-the-light had a hand in shaping the skywrath alongside Avilliva and Skree'Auk, accompanying that with angelic imagery and mentioning judeo-christianism in general earlier would evoke the environment containing angel-like creatures working for the light side. Also Terrorblade, who didn't come up as much has snarky comments for killing Dragonus, "An angel falls" by which he might be reflecting on how the skywrath are considered somehow divine, what with them possessing very powerful magic and apparently keeping somewhat to themselves indicated by TB's other comment when working alongside Skywrath Mage and asking "Are you an angel?", telling us he might not actually know about Dragonus' race. This would also give us a reason to believe Terrorblade is young enough, compared to Doom, to not remember or to know of the skywrath. As of KOTL, he either withdrew from the world or was forced out onto the next by Chaos Knight cathing up to him once again as he doesn't really come up in the skywrath related lore, so his role could have been just to create them and then fade away even from their history, although it would make a nice last panel to a Valve's Dota related comics to reveal in some ancient parchment that the Keeper is considered a skywrath divinity.

I think Slacks got some error on his theories: 1.Shadowdemon was once the master of Shadowfiend often shadowfiends tell "I am your slave no more". 2.Terrorblade was on the lowest of hell. why Dafuq hell of hells on 2nd ring? O_o? 3.Doom was raised to rank according to the demons responses on dota 2. He rosed to ranked. 4.Not all creatures from hells are demon. there are types of it (Fiend,Shadow,Deathknights, etc.) 5.If im not mistaken Keeper of the light was the one to blame of all this shit. He took the LIGHT thats why Shadow and Darkness was born and gave life to other creature special CK who created different planes just to follow him. whereas Arc warden was created by higher beings to restart the balance.

it could very possibly be, iirc, in ancient egyptian religion, plains were separated by a river (i think Nyx?) and in dota map, radiant side is just like our world (trees, grass, animals) and the dire is dark, dead stuff, and shit like that. this could basicaly mean that the radiant is fighting for protecting the light's plain and by destroying dire throne, it destroys something like a gate, and the dire is trying to do the opposite, to break the radiant throne to open the gate permanently. if you remember guys, in old dota 1, the factions were actually hero specific and demons were scourge (dire), while kotl and the others were sentinel, so this supports my theory. it can very possibly be the purgatorium, i think slacks talked about this shit and said something similar

Well, the demons could be associated with them certainly, Doom is Pride,SF is Gluttony,SD is Greed, QOP is Lust, remaining three could be demons we don't know like Ezhtok or whatever the name of the demon that gave BS it's weapons, it could qualify as Wrath(leaving Envy and Sloth completely unknown). Here's a theory to consider: Shadow demon is not in fact sovereign; he is the shadow of the master - an extension of this being into the mortal plane, but not the entity itself - but has become with distance and souls gathered a quasi-independent, incredibly powerful but barely sentient, being. This explains his place in the pecking order and the inconsistent interactions between himself and the other sovereign demons, right?

I'm particularly intrigued by this duality in his rivalry lines - for example, facing doom, he sometimes says 'I will never return to your pit' but sometimes says 'the seventh hell is mine!' So there's this picture of one creature, weak and cowering, and another far greater being sometimes speaking through its mouth.

I mean everytime shadow fiend dies, he dies screaming, what if it because everytime he dies, his original form collects the souls his shadow gathered, losing half of his strength he is summoned back to the plain to harvest souls and his shadow is destined to do it forever, so instead of being a slave doing shit forever, he tries to gain enough power to become an independent being and have his own place in the planes of hell and existance, which is why doom keeps telling him he is just a weakling, maybe it's because he is just a pawn and has no purpose except collecting and collecting some soul?

i think "the master" is actually you, the player, and shadow fiend is breaking the fourth wall by saying "master, nooo" when he dies. the game's written lore says there's a bunch of theorys people have about what's SF deal with souls, and all of them are confirmed by the in-game responses.
