iirc medusa resistance (both phys and mag) is only applied to her own hp not to the mana shield. I already tried this item on demo hero by myself, the ~40% mag res (eternal shroud only) vs ~97% mag res (new tier 5 only), both loss the same value of mana after huge magic dmg from finger of death, but the only difference is the hp loss which is the 97% almost got no dmg (only 1-2 digit dmg) while the 40% got a bit higher dmg (2-3 digit dmg) and refund the 20% dmg as mana that is really broken, it just feels like you don't recieve any magic dmg lmao. This works the same way as physical res does. You guys can try by yourself basic armor medu (usual items) vs buffed by dazzle + cuirass + some buckler upgrade items and the medu using 6 shivas (120armor), try to get attacked by WK with rapier for consistent crit. Both 200+ armor and the usual items armor will losing the same amount of mana, which mean your resistance not added to the mana shield. So basically you recieve dmg > mana shield cause the mana loss based on amount of dmg > reduce 98% dmg recieved > reduced further more by the ressistance > you got the dmg after all those shit reductions. Conclusion : this item is not really that broken on medu for tanking dmg, BUT it gives you good amount of hp pool since she is lacking strength stats, and help you survive from magic dmg even after you ran out of mana. So, with this item you can just go old medu physical build + satanic.
