I remember when I first started playing DotA in Warcraft 3, Riki had just been nerfed by removing his death ward. He was so ridiculously imba before that! I still liked being invisible, since back then pub were waaay worse than now, there was no dust, and nearly nobody bought wards. Fun times :)

One critical difference in how Night hound worked in HoN was how backstab and blinkstrike worked, in Dota and Dota2 Blinkstrike merely does it's intended 120 dmg to the target, but in HoN Backstabs dmg was also added to the blinkstrike spell itself as Night hound landed, resulting in some sick spelldmg scaling.

I think you forgot to mention that earlier riki's invisibility used to get broken when he casts a spell or uses any item. It was changed in Dota2 to only break when he attacks.

Losing vision on Smoke Screen seems to come from Reworked Graves's W, which is him throwing a Smoke Grenade on the ground, which kills your vision since Season 6. Good change, since it makes no sense being able to see inside of a smoke screen

Don't think many people would care tbf, but just a quick note about Night Hound - apart from having his Permanent Invisibility levelable at 3 and then 1 before that happened to Riki (while still occupying the ult slot, though), for quite a long time he did have an altered ult which gave him periodic charges which allowed him to attack once without breaking stealth, making him much better as a suicide offlaner. It was not a very well-liked change even though his winrate was quite ordinary so he got the generic ult back after a year or so, the attack without breaking stealth mechanic being given in a more limited fashion to Grinex instead.

Riki is heavily inspired by Nightcrawler from the Marvel comics. Notice how the first iteration of Riki was red ( Nightcrawler's father is Azazel, who basically just looks like a red and more sinister version of Nightcrawler ), then it changed to a dark blue ( same color as Nightcrawler ), Riki is able to teleport around like Nightcrawler ( except it's not called teleportation, just "blink" ), both use bladed weapons in combat ( in Nightcrawler's case, it's fencing swords and in Riki's case it's daggers ), both have a tail, 3 fingers and 2 toes, and both can become invisible ( the only difference is Nightcrawler is only invisible at night or in shadowy areas whereas Riki is invisible regardless of his surroundings ).

Riki was my favorite hero as a kid back in Dota1, the Riki meta back then was Mask of Madness(didn't silence you back then) and -Cranium- errr I mean, Skull Basher.
