San Francisco, California. San Francisco is diverse, vibrant, and has so much to offer! Watch this video to get a sense of what San Francisco is really like, from the perspective of a SF local who loves the city.
Here's a list of the places in San Francisco we visited:
1. Chinatown (Grant St. & Stockton St., and New Moon Restaurant for dim sum)
2. Sotto Mare in North Beach (the best cioppino in the city)
3. Mission District street art tour (find my street art guide here: www.dotsonamap.net/san-franci...)
4. La Taqueria for a dorado-style Mission burrito
5. The annual San Francisco Carnaval Parade in the Mission neighborhood

Lived my life in SF until my family moved to the South Bay when I was a toddler. Worked as a route driver throughout the city for almost a decade straight. So I know every nook and cranny of this beautiful city. I’ve been to nearly every major metropolitan city in the US and a few around the world and its only closest rival in the US would be NYC. But my bias will always lean towards the city by the Bay. Every time I’m there, I always find a reason to fall in love with it over and over again. The good, bad, and ugly. Just no place like it.

Thank you for the recommendation for Cioppino. I have been a fan of The Tadich Grill’s Cioppino for 20 plus years but now I have yet another more “down to earth locals spot” for it. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I’ll always believe in San Francisco, I moved here during the pandemic and I don’t regret it at all. There is just so much to do and explore! It would’ve been great to hear about Japantown, North Beach (Little Italy) and the immigration of Pacific Islanders (Samoans, Tongans, etc) and Filipinos to SF!

Speaking as a sixth generation San Franciscan who was forced to leave due to economics, I can tell you the great diversity of the City no longer exists. The wealthy have taken over and forced the working classes out. My family included Firefighters, Cops, Dock Workers, Railroad workers, bank workers and many others who used to be the backbone of San Francisco. None of them could afford to live there now. Much of the homeless population is a direct result of "market rate" housing and unfairly low working class wages. Leaders and the media are all too quick to politicize the thousands living on the streets as criminals, drug addicts and the mentally ill. While those aspects are in the mix, and always have been, unchecked Capitalist greed and corruption, along with overpopulation in general, are a much bigger cause of the current situation. This truth aside, I hope you have future videos planned to cover the many parts of the City you have not touched on. Foremost would be Golden Gate Park, a place many consider the most beautiful urban park in the world. Also, the Marina, Japantown, the Castro, the Embarcadero, North Beach and dozens of other neighborhoods. San Francisco also has an incredible history in the fine arts, music and sports. The children's playground featured in this video was once the location of The Blackhawk, a world famous jazz club whose stage was graced with the likes of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Dave Brubeck and countless others (Note the building sized murals surrounding the park).

From the South Bay, but still have family there in the Excelsior district, also been there for a few generations. I agree, it’s so sad to see this change. Even the Mission, where I lived the first two years of my life, is clinging on ever so delicately to what the true heart of the city represents. Still one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We’re biased of course lol 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is such a well put together documentary style like video on San Francisco. The sights and sounds and the festive atmosphere were beautifully captured, making the city come alive. I was there in early 2000s but managed only to go see the Golden Gate Bridge.

“I left my heart in SanFrancisco” and you left your wallet too! Seriously, Alcatraz Island could be used to clean up the City. How you ask? It’s a place to stay just remove the bars and turn the place into a habitable living project. They have a mess hall etc… You could have a clinic in there to help treat those in need. That would get them off the streets.

What's the point for those "artists" to "fight gentrification"? Increased demand in certain areas always leads to price increases that's the simplest causation, I highly recommend educate yourself about the market economy

Half white and half taiwanese, too difficult to say? People who look like you? You look halfway like them. Or are you ashamed of being half white? I'd be half (no pun intended) tempted to use the word "racist", but then again, I'm not a leftist.
