Great video, I’ve been using the heel toe for a while now. No one ever taught me heel to o just mimicked what I was doing on my right foot for fast 16th note hits and that’s how that happened years ago. I am currently working on the raised heel ankle technique which is challenging to control but every day I see progress in control and with control comes speed. I never even knew about several of these other techniques.

Easiest way to improve speed with the flat foot is with ankle weights. Here’s how it works. Find where your limit is with flat foot (for example, 130 bpm) and then subtract 30 bpm. Now strap some ankle weights on and play at your new bpm for 24 bars. After that, take a 30 minute break, then do the same but up the click by 10. Repeat this until you can play at your original limit while wearing the ankle weights for 24 bars. After that, take the weights off, and now you’ll be able to play at your former limit with ease.

@ErceArslan

You are welcome:) For around these tempos I recommend you to use leg motion mainly (like around 100-150 bpm) Of course continue working with heel up ankle motion technique too in these tempos as an exercise but you will feel more comfortable with leg motion

@ErceArslan
@ErceArslan 6 жыл бұрын

I play with heel up ankle motion using calves. But I feel it's very hard to get my left foot into that technique. It's hard to start out at pretty much all tempos. I can sometimes get a few consistent 8th note hits in with the left at around 190-210bpm but it's not that consistent and sometimes the beater doesn't go all the way. Got any tips on how to get my left foot to play it properly?

Dude you should take up tap dancing bro. You would definately be the world's greatest. In any case first time I heard anyone call it the swivel technique. Also glad you mentioned it last because.... I think you eventually get to this after you hit the wall of your speed with leg motion or technique 3. Some of these guys are nauseously fast. Maybe that's the point for some of the satanic death metal I don't know.

Hey, I have a Ludwig double pedal, and its right pedal is fine, but the left pedal is very sluggish (hope that's the right word). I have to kick it very hard to get a sound. I think the problem is in the articulations (again a word I had to translate from Google, hope it's right). I tried to oil it but it didn't help anything. Should I just buy a better double kick like that Tama Speed Cobra? I'd appreciate any tips. Btw this is the best double bass drum tutorial series ever! PS. This problem occurs in low quality twin pedals. Even the high quality ones have almost always lag because of the friction force in the connection unit, but it doesn't effect playing that much. You can check out my 19th lesson for further information.
