I get people correcting me all the time when I call some of our hills mountains. I ask them if they have ever hunted bluff country. Once you climb a few of those bluffs while carrying gear, it becomes a freaking mountain. Great hunt and video as always.

Really great hunting. Wish I was able to take a hunt with you this spring. It’ll probably be my last year. Disabled and now my back is killing me. Waiting on MRI’s and what they will be doing to try and fix me and get me going again. I hope I don’t miss this last season I figure I have. I don’t know if I’ll even be here or even able to go next season. April 8th start’s here in north east ga. Turkey season. Some big birds around these hills but I can’t climb these hills anymore so my chances are slim to none trying to find a flat place to hunt. I’ve put three nice gobbler’s in the freezer over the years. I’d love to connect on one more before I have to give it up. Good luck on this year’s season. I love your hunting videos. I get so excited when you’re bird comes in. Almost like I’m sitting there with you. I use to be able to owl, and yelp just like a hen with just my mouth but after heart surgery and the tube ran down my throat it messed my vocal cords up and I can’t do either. So sad about that. My first cousin that’s my age can call with his mouth also. He lives in Silas Al where my family is from. Some wonderful turkey and deer hunting in Choctaw county. I’ve walked those hills since I was six years old with my daddy and grandpa and my kin deer and Turkey hunting. Killed my first buck when I was eight and my first bird when I was seven using a single shot 410 Stevens. It was stolen with my daddy’s double barrel lc smith field grade shotgun and my long Tom that grandpa bought me. I’ve had some really bad luck with my half brother’s and sisters. Thanks again for sharing your hunts with us.

Shane, this may be one of the prettiest places I have seen you hunt so far!!

It was beautiful for sure. I spent more than an hour on that hill just enjoying the view.

@@ShaneSimpsonHunting I bet. One of my favorite things about any of the hunting I do is enjoying the beautiful places surrounding me. Where I hunt here in North Georgia, it is gorgeous! Mountain birds are tough at times though! I was fortunate enough to take two mature longbeards this season.

Shane which friction call and striker do you use?

Currently I'm using the Hook's Boss slate and alternate between a Hook's IPE Gobblestix flared-tip striker and a striker from Zink. Not sure what it's made of but looks like some time of oak or other hardwood.

Thanks Shane. I've been turkey hunting for 34 years now and you are one of the best callers I have heard in a long time.
@RodneyArrow5 жыл бұрын
You got in his head baaaaaaad!! That was awesome when he committed and came in on a string. I'm nervous about over-calling. Do you always call that much when they're hung up like that or does it vary by bird? Seems like a tough read.
@ShaneSimpsonHunting5 жыл бұрын
It varies by each bird, situation. You only get one chance to get it right most times and considering how far this bird had already come, I figured some aggressive calling might seal the deal at the end. I got it right this time. Lol
