Many of the most elderly pensioners left school at an early age, university educations were rare and the women stayed home and looked after the children, then went into poorly paid part time jobs later. What chance did the women have to save into a pension when there was one wage coming in and children to support? Besides private pensions didn't come into play until the early 80s. Have some compassion.

I am a pensioner and am telling everyone I can that don't save don't pay into a pension because the government will take it no matter what they will steal it. They put laws in to look like it's good but will just change them and take it anyway.

I am 80yrs old and have a small works pension which takes me just over the threshold. I am worried that I no longer have that £300 buffer to help get through the winter. I also suffer with lung problems, so if I breath in cold air it will be detrimental to my health.This government has signed the death warrant for hundreds of pensioner's with their cruel actions. I hope they are happy with their actions. Perhaps that is what they are aiming for, as that will cut the bill for paying our pensions. Starmer needs to do the right thing and resiegn now.

I’m nearly 70 and of bad health iv brought up my granddaughter from birth on my own she’s 14 this month.. it’s got to the point we’re in don’t look forward to weekends because i have to have my electric fireplace on at least when she’s at school she’ll be warm and have a hot meal.. from the moment she goes to school I go back to bed because it’s getting cold now and when I’m not in bed I’m constantly wearing my dressing gown

That's a disgrace ......are you in a property that supports a solid fuel device....They end up being more efficient and because they throw out more heat which last longer and you may be able get cheap offcuts of wood ....Mixed with a bit of Coke lasts for ages... ......But forking out for the whole system is pretty expensive...... get a heated electric blanket for when you're watching the telly on the night about 40 quid...... you shouldn't have to you should be able to relax at the weekend and enjoyed it.... sounds like you've done a great job bringing up your little granddaughter...... What i fail to understand is that this measure will only save the treasury about 1.5 billion. If all the pensioners who are entitled to pension credit claim it they will actually end up losing money so this whole exercise just seems completely pointless. Surely there are other ways they could claw back this money which will be more effective

It's already happened! Many claimed PC and won. Cannot remember the figures, but it is already going to cost the Gov millions more than if they had kept the WFP for all pensioners. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! I think that's why they are now planning to stop free bus passes, taking away the 25% single occupant Council Tax reduction. Now with so many planning on taking out a lump sum off their pension, to avoid paying tax - Rancid Thieves is going to reduce the amount they are entitled to take out.

We all put on a jumper that’s ok. But when you have sit in blankets and the rest of your house is like ice then you are in trouble. When your walls get cold and then maybe damp with mould especially in the bathroom where your towel doesn’t dry and you can’t open the window because it’s too cold. All because people are terrified of the bills. I know people who are doing this already and they have just had horrible colds and coughs.
