Amazing double down up with right hand. But the way Brads left hand matches it, is also amazing.

Been working with Brad's book "Developing speed,accuracy and tone" - really a great resource . If want to get better at flat picking, it's silly NOT to have a copy. No affiliation, just a very happy "student".

Super playing, what a great sound. It seems that at slower tempos (tempi?), there is a lot of elbow motion, but at a higher tempo the technique changes automatically to more of a forearm rotation. The slow tempo practice doubtless helps establish the necessary arm placement and relaxation, but I feel that they're two separate motions and nerve impulses. Of course, it's all easy to talk about. 😛 Cheers and thank you for taking the time to record and share your knowledge! z

I've been trying to learn this technique for 10 years LOL. I tried every way possible. I just can't get it. I'm a pretty good flat picker. But this one has me stumped LOL.

Brad, I use 38mm nylon picks.. In most hands it would be like playing with a piece of paper, but I'm quite heavy handed, and they really give when I play rhythm,, They seem to work ok while I practice this speed lick, but I don't want to cut corners with this technique.. What gauge would you suggest I use for optimum out put, when practicing this technique? Thanks for your comment bro' Ty.

Brad - on the "up" you are hitting the A sting right? Rests on the 4th and comes back to hit the 5th?
@johngilbert58757 жыл бұрын
That’s true, I came up on the 4th for a day until it dawned on me to rest on the 4th, but come up on the 5th, not 4th
