Fun facts: A video game featuring motion captured sprites like Mortal Kombat was concepted to coincide with the movie, having the actors of the film and their stunt doubles provide the captured images. However it was deemed it could not be completed in the same amount of time as the movie, so was scrapped. After the movie was released, the film studio admitted it was a stroke of luck the game didn't go ahead. The film would later have a Japan only, tie-in, fighting game of the same name, developed by Technos Japan under the license of SNK Playmore, ported to the Neo Geo MVS and the Neo-Geo CD in 1995 as well as the PlayStation in 1996. Dozens of arcade games appear in the Power Corps hideout. DOUBLE DRAGON is one of them as a 4th wall-break. It's visible when Jimmy (possessed by Kogo Shuko) tries to kick Billy but misses and shatters the monitor of the machine. The characters from the game that appear in this film are two male characters and two female characters: Billy Lee (player one), Jimmy Lee (player two), Marian (supporting NPC), and Linda (third enemy). The in-game characters that did not make appearances in the film are Linda's Black Warriors evil organization whom she was originally affiliated with, the rest of her gang-member accomplices were: Williams (first enemy), Roper (second enemy), Zack Abobo (sub-boss), Jick Abobo (stage one boss), Jeff (stage two boss), Chin Tai Mei (console-exclusive boss), Mibobo (stage three boss), and "Machine Gun" Willy (fourth and final stage "Big Boss"). Unlike the game, the film takes place in the apocalyptic future of 2007 in Los Angeles, California known fictionally as "New Angeles". Based on Yoshihisa Kishimoto's 1987 hit arcade beat 'em up by Technos Japan of the same name. Alyssa Milano and Scott Wolf actually started dating while filming this movie and were subsequently engaged, but the relationship didn't last and the couple eventually broke up. Sibling characters Marian and Marc Delario are played by real-life siblings Alyssa Milano and Cory Milano. Even though Marian's surname is Delario, she is also known as Marian Martin in the DIC animated series and Marian Steele in the Marvel Comics. Despite this, Technos Japan already gave the character a canon full name in the Double Dragon anthology which is Marian Kelly.

It's always funny, watching a movie that postulated wild changes only a few years after it was made. Blade Runner, at least, was looking nearly 40 years into the future. While Double Dragon is certainly no Blade Runner it still expects the audience to buy into the idea that in just a few years, everything is going to be way different. Of course, given the rest of the movie the futuristic aspects (which are now part of an alternate past) are hardly worth noticing, given the supernatural aspects and the considerable differences from believeable motivations (particularly the woman closing the door in order to get blow'd up).
