Pizza cocacola and $5 dollars in quarters for a good evening! In retrospect it was kinda a ripoff because I don't think I ever made it past the second level lol.
@BaronNate7 жыл бұрын
I beat this at 9 with one quarter once after pumping every single ten dollar allowance I got at the bowling alley in the 80s, It was one of my best moments as a kid when I turned around and there was like 10, 20 year olds watching me beat it. I didn't even know they were there til the one guy was like, "There you go lil man!" Fuck I miss those days.

@hughjass83835 жыл бұрын
Unless you're asian, beating it with one quarter at 9 years old is total bullshit
@BaronNate5 жыл бұрын
its called practice and lots and lots of elbows. You also have another incentive, when you are playing with the money you earned yourself from working in the hot sun, you learn to value your money. I wish to God I had footage, but it was the 80s. Only really well off people had camcorders. one quarter, you can cheese the entire game literally with only elbows. Early game you can have fun, but elbows until the machine gun guy is beat past the traps.It also helps to have a lil brother that's damn good at games too to help you train. Games were a lot less forgiving back then, you got good, or you never got anywhere.
@nazz19795 жыл бұрын
@@agonzalez8924 It's easily doable on "one quarter" (or 40 Australian cents lol) until you get to the final level--then the spears coming out of the walls will just steal your credits unless you do it perfect. Then after that, it's not that hard.

I remember passing this game, when I was about 6 or 7 years old. We use to have the game at the 711 liquor store. This was back in 89 maybe 90. I remember me and some other Kid who must have been 10 or 11 years old were both playing. Once we defeated the Boss at the final stage, I yelled out to him we have to fight each other, for the girl. He was out of quarters and almost out of life. He said hold, on hold on, so I hit him with an elbow and defeated him. In my mind I couldn't lose the game, I wanted to see the final ending.That little punk, got mad, turned around and punch me in my stomach. I cried, but took it like a little champ. This game and Tokie where the first games I ever passed. 5 Dollars would get me a chilli cheese dog, a med slurpee, and about 3 dollars in quarters for video games. I was good for about the next 3 hours. This takes me back through memory lane. It was an awesome time growing up in the 80s and 90s..

Techno created the game. Taito was the US distributer of the game. Like how Rockstar North makes GTA but Take Two Interactive owns and distributes their games under the Rockstar label.
@nazz19795 жыл бұрын
WTF, this is hands down one of the best ever games of the 1980s. From a technical perspective, the fight mechanics were super. I mean, they coded full nelson headlock functionality, and infinite whipping of the victim by a second player FFS! Epic, and this music just puts the icing on this very fine cake.
@BenJabituya4 жыл бұрын
Actually it was Originally by Technos Japan Corporation, which no longer exists as of 1996. Since June 11, 2015, Arc System Works currently owns the IP and picked it up from Million Co. Ltd.. Taito localized the arcade version for the U.S. AKSYS Games, the US localization team distributed the NES versions via the Virtual Console service. I have "Double Dragon Advance" for the Game Boy Advance, published by Atlus Co. Ltd./SEGA, developed by Million Co. Ltd.. Tradewest localized the first Double Dragon for the Nintendo Entertainment System in the US, while the 2 sequels were localized by Acclaim Entertainment, now currently owned by CollectorVision Games.

The most broken of the DD games where the deadly elbow smash could not be defeated by any enemy in the game until they finally learned how to duck under it in double dragon 2. LOL Otherwise a great game. Sound effects were better than Double Dragon 2.

@AndrewTheTransformer4 жыл бұрын
haha damn! And if that wasn't enough, they made the punch and back kick button in reverse when facing the opposite direction!
@UToobUsername014 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewTheTransformer You mean Double Dragon 2. I kinda got used to it but hated it at first. The idea was that each button corresponded to "attack" based on the direction of the button and not the direction you were facing. If you push the left attack button you will still attack anything to the left. If you push the right attack button then you will attack anything to the right. What direction you face determines if its a punch or kick. Very confusing at first but once you know that it makes sense. It took me a lot longer to learn how to play Street Fighter II with its 6 buttons. Back in 1991 that was a big deal as no other game had this many buttons. If you like beat 'em ups like Final Fight, double dragon, battletoads, ninja turtles arcade etc go seek out an indie game called "Fight 'n Rage". You will not be disappointed. Been playing it and its great. Think of it like "final fight" and "street of rage" had their genes spliced together with "ninja turtles arcade".
