Been using this for years, have 4 strings of open G tuning and 3 bottom strings are part open D as well as power chords it's great for mad slide stuff too!!!

It's a great tuning to play Heart of Saturday Night by Tom Waits. Also, John Hiatt uses this tuning for his acoustic version of Buffalo River Home.
