Speaking as a backer, I've greatly enjoyed this series. For anyone who has never seen it, I highly recommend it. Especially to those who have had qualms against Double Fine for the way they've handled Broken Age. It showcases very well just how hard it is to make a game sometimes and that its road to completion can have many bumps along the way.

16:46 The fact that Ron almost leaves Tim with one eye, two minutes before the campaign is over... Such a Threepwood moment! But life knows better, for much more years like this!

I feel like that hipster girl who wants to say "I loved Tim before he was cool!". Growing up on his games, he inspired me to go into games development. His ideas were far out there and he wasn't afraid to try something new. You deserve every cent you got Doublefine.

Brilliant series, a very important body of work. I feel like all of the hate on social media that's been going around lately for Tim and his games is so unjustified, Those people should all be made to watch this series and get them to understand that awesome games don't just pop out. That developers don't hate everyone and deliberately make bad games because reasons. It's bloody hard work and you can see there are people that put everything they've got into trying to make a great game with years of work. But also I'd like to gloat and say, now you feel bad and you should feel bad.

i really love this documentary series! most accounts of the game development process (whether they be actual game documentation or films like this) are usually disjointed or simply nonexistent, so something this well produced is incredibly valuable.

my favorite TV show / documentary series for the last few years has been exclusive to backers of one of the biggest Kickstarter campaigns ever made - but now the episodes are being posted to youtube for the first time and I can't encourage you enough to watch this series if you have any interest in the process behind the scenes of team dynamics and arts production. From the macro view to the intricacy of each artistry that combines together to become a video game. These are wonderful humans, the film makers are super talented, and it has a gorgeous soundtrack. It gives me the feels in a major way. I love these people.

The kinds of games they do arent really my "thing"... But we must protect this corner of the gaming world, its one of the few "pure" areas we still have. I love modern gaming, but i hate that with every game i get, comes a massive p2w cash shop or a massive skin shop.... I miss just playing a game i buy, without the constant MTX shoved down my face

What I find curious and I'm just trying to be a negative nancy but knowing at the time this was filmed, hindsight being 20/20, what caused you to document so much of this process knowing it could be a total flop? Sure after success I could see you recreate what was going on at the time but who's idea was it to document so much of the process before success?
@DoubleFineProd
@DoubleFineProd 10 жыл бұрын
***** The documentary was a joint project between 2 Player and Double Fine with the express purpose of capturing the full arc of game development, no matter what happened. It was a central theme of the Kickstarter pitch from the start.
@PanayiotisCharalambous
@PanayiotisCharalambous 10 жыл бұрын
The process of learning and achieving something involves both success and failures! If you only document and show something that will be a guaranteed success you don't learn anything! + it's not just the goal, it is the journey to that goal! The journey is the important thing here...
@O1OO1O1
@O1OO1O1 9 жыл бұрын
***** That was the promise of Double Fine Adventure--they'd make a game, and document the process for all to see, regardless of what the result was. The people who backed the project were people who wanted to see "how the sausage is made," or who love adventure games, so this was a pretty cool opportunity that the backers basically made happen.

I don't know how this ends yet but I can't believe that people funded a project without a single idea in place. I could not work in that environment. It's childish. I didn't rate Monkey Island or Grim Fandango so my expectations aren't high for this one. My favourite game: Myth the Fallen Lords. That's my starting point.
