So complex and precious. I love the chromatical way of modulation you use. There are many aspects to highlight, but I can summarize it in 2 words: Good Job!

Muy interesante la composición y muy buena idea el ir describiendo la evolución de las voces. Felicitaciones!!! Pere

A very interesting feature in this fugue: after the double exposition the sum of both subjects is usually introduced with some sort of climax; in this fugue everything sounds so consequential and smooth that the final section appear as a perfectly natural consequence of both themes. I don't dare to judge this as good (flowing counterpoint is always welcome) or bad (there should be some "contra" dialectic between "puncti"), that's something not so easy to achieve.

This is stunning! And the informative texts might be very useful if I sometimes try to write a Fugue myself. Thank you, and Da Capo! :)

@OrbiliusMagister Thanks for your comments. I understand what you mean. I suppose I could cite Bach as a precedent for this sort of thing; I can think of 2 or 3 double fugues of his where he introduces the combination of themes without much fanfare. I did make a conscious effort to write a second subject that, on first hearing at least, might not sound like it would combine with the first subject, thereby creating a bit of drama when they finally do come together. That was my hope, anyway!

I very like your works, maybe I'll also decide to write a double fugue... - you've inspired me :)

@obizin Sibelius is capable of substituting soundfonts for its native sounds and exporting the result as an mp3. Unfortunately, it is not free software. "Inverted," in this instance, means that the fugal subject is turned upside down. (If the original subject rises by a third, the inverted subject falls a third, etc.)

@obizin Thank you very much. I use Sibelius 5 to compose, and a free organ soundfont called "Jeux D'orgues" for the playback.

@johnyprestige Thanks. It's not me playing, but my computer. The organ is a soundfont called "jeux d'orgues."

@bersa888 - Oh, I thought you meant "a-flat minor." Ha ha. I agree about the distant keys being introduced early. I'd probably plan out those modulations differently if I were to rewrite this today.

@GKesik: Thank you. It was a challenge, but also a lot of fun.

@parquar You mean the C minor Passacaglia and Fugue? Yes, perhaps unconsciously that was an influence. But a dramatic pause after a chromatic chord is a common Baroque effect. Brahms even did a similar thing in the last movement of the 4th symphony, also a passacaglia.

@Contrapunctus1750 thanks for replying, it's a wonderful organ sound!

@GlenShannon : No, this is my computer playing. I have a pretty realistic organ soundfont called "Jeux D'orgues."

@bersa888 - Hmmm... I don't have any a flat minor entries. The first middle entries are c minor and e flat minor. Granted, they are odd key choices so early in a d minor fugue. I think I've gotten better at planning out modulations since I wrote the first section of this fugue.
