This would look great as a 2 color quilt, or a 1 color solid, and multi-color print, and the medium tone sashing. It may not need sashing with a 1 color solid. This has a lot of possibilities...or, a tablecloth with placemats in different colors, yet still matching. Thanks for sharing ❤️😊

This looks great, but I feel like drawing the spiral or zigzag line just wastes fabric and makes you cut off more than needed... I want to try this, but what I would do is simply cut the tube into the 1.5" strips (or rather smal loops) first, and afterwards snip them apart with a straight angle and within the same fabric, just at random distance points. Then it's easy to arrange them in a pleasing and equally random way without losing so much on both sides, and keeping all the blocks at a similar width.

If you're sewing 4 eight inch strips together, shouldn't you have a strip that measures 8.5" wide? I really like the finished quilt, especially your bold choice for the solid in the borders.

You would think. As mentioned before, there are reasons this might happen.

This would be a great stash-busting quilt, for sure! I don't understand the criterion you used, when you laid the two alternating strips out, cascading down, stating you were lining them up on a certain ruler line. Other than a consistent horizontal line, I can't see the logic of the vertical placement, perhaps because I am watching you do it upside down. I do like the look of the curvy cuts, the best!
@revelationquilts
@revelationquilts Жыл бұрын
Since the end of every strip was cut at an angle or curve, I lined them up on a line so that the 'line' allowed me to be able to cut off the angled ends and be able to start with a straight edge to start sewing them together. I originally struggled with how to line each strip up when sewing them together, so I came up with that solution.

@@revelationquilts Oh! I got it! You're using the shorter of the two uneven ends. Excellent. This is your first video that I've seen. I can't wait to see your other videos, too!

I had the same ? re what part of each strip you were using to line up vertically. Now I get it. Thanks.

When you do the first layout of the strips you choose a vertical cut line on the mat but how do you decide what spot on the strip to aim for? Love this design but I’ve watched this several times and my pea brain gets stuck at this step. Starts at about 10:48?
@revelationquilts

I line them up so that a whole strip is lined up; for example, there's no curve or angle in the line. I hope this helps.
