Smart and simple. I have tried several much more complicated ways to double hook them. I really like this one!

Will the bait swim with the double hooks on the side of the body?
@GourmetFishing3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will. The second hook has a pivot point at the eye which allows it to move.

Hi David I really like your video but please can you tell me which hook number will be the best of the best for kingfish wahoo and tuna fishing please can you message me that will be great of your....thanks

I'm glad you like the channel and videos. For Wahoo, I like to use a large hook in the 9/0 to 10/0 range similar to the Mustad 3407-DT or the 7691DT. For Blackfin tuna, I scale things down and use a 6/0-7/0 Mustad 7691DT. I also use the 7691DT when I'm targeting Dolphin, the fish not the mammal, and use the 7/0 size. For Kingfish, when trolling, I use the Mustad 3407-DT 7/0 and a 6/0 needle eye hook and pass the needle eye thru the 7/0 Ring eye. This creates the double hook rig. I hope this helps, David

I learned this back in the 80’s when we trolled for kingfish. It helps cut down a little on the short strike

It does help to reduce those pesky cut-off. Good luck and use the lightest wire you can get away with...

How does the bait swim with the hooks on the side like that? Thanks.
@GourmetFishing3 жыл бұрын
I use small rubber bands that are about the size of a dime. I get them from the hair care aisle in Walmart. I use 2 of them and put them around the ballyhoo and the hooks. it keeps the hook tight to the side of the bait.

@@GourmetFishing You didn't answer his question.

@ sorry. It swims well with a seawitch our other weight lure and also skips well. Sometimes you will have to adjust the bait and bands if it does spin. I always test the action before I set them into my spread.
