Hey quick question for ya. Did soft foods freak you out for a while because of this? The stitches on my lower jaws also came undone but a little later at about 2 weeks post-op. It was too far back for me to really see anything but after I was cleared to slowly start adding soft foods (splint still wired in), eating initially freaked me out because the unsecured gum flapping around has the same texture as some soft foods (cuz of that splendid numbness) so it feels like I’m chewing on it. Lol I never am but it’s super trippy. You were on strict liquids for longer than me so maybe not but many of your jaw surgery experiences have been weirdly similar to mine (lol the panic shower) so I’m curious!

Hey! Totally understandable, that doesn't sound like the best of times haha. I couldn't feel my gums flapping and I only started chewing at 4 weeks and by then my gums had healed. I did however generally dislike eating just because it was a pain and not chewing makes things faaaarrr less enjoyable. I was probably too paranoid, but my main thing was just keeping my mouth super clean (especially after the stitches came undone because having food on open wounds did freak me out). I felt good about things (even with the gums open) if I brushed my teeth after I ate (every time, so at least 3 times a day) and I rinsed my mouth with salt dissolved in warm water on top of that about 6 times a day. Omg lol, the panic shower is never a fun time!

@@emily.buck_ No no no, just the right amount of paranoid (lol I may or may not be self validating a similarly aggressive cleaning regime). Thanks for sharing!
