Currently on 3 weeks post op going on 4 weeks. Had two very tumultuous weeks at the beginning but im in the mend, i kinda had the same thing you had with your exposed bone but i had a small hole in my gum where the stitches were, scared me shitless when i first discovered it but the surgeon said it will heal on its own time and to keep it really clean.

Oh how I feel for you!! That sounds very uncomfortable and distressing :( but it's great you checked in with your surgeon and you just gotta keep things clean. I mended pretty quickly and haven't had any following issues, I'm sure you will heal up well too! Best of luck with the rest of your recovery 😊 it's all gonna be worth it soon!

Never splint with jaw surgery?
@emily.buck_2 жыл бұрын
Nope, I didn't have a splint and I wasn't wired shut either, just had rubber bands on my braces :)

@@emily.buck_ Me too. When I came out of surgery, it looked like I had a massive open bite but they fixed it with elastics really quickly.

@BangingMyHead That's super interesting! I was worried about my overbite after surgery and the fact my teeth weren't all coming together, but yes the bands fixed things in the months that followed post surgery. It took my mouth a while, but I'm glad yours was all sorted quickly!!
