Between the first episodes of the first and seconds season there was around 5 months the first time, and 9 months between the second and third. So yeah, could be possible that they make it to come out around december, since ad revenue is up around then. But it can also be just as likely that a new season (if they're even doing another) would be next spring.

The best thing is that we have both and don't need to compare them; Personally, I like DL more - other then the fact that these series got me into this "___ life" hole, like in 3rd life, DL tells a story - about really complicated relationship of how Scott felt betrayed by Pearl at first, isolated from her driving her to hurt herself to hurt him, and after uniting at the end, parting, and uniting again, he forgives her, admitting her victory and giving her the glory; and Pearl, thinking he's gonna betray her till the end, sees his sacrifice and also forgives him in return. It's a beautiful story, just like 3rd life.

My favorite thing about how the quartet played this out over the season is that being soul bound doesn't mean you are soulmates. Yes, they are bound through health bars, but to be 'mates' they need to have that genuine connection and the willingness to see the relationship through. This interpretation of soul bonds was less 'made for each other' and more 'random connections between people'. No matter what kind of connections we find, true friendships and maybe something more are formed through the willingness to come together and stay together. While Scott and Pearl were soul bound, it was the connection that Scott and Cleo formed and cultivated that made them soulmates. This can similarly be seen between Grian, Scar, and Big B. Grian stayed with Scar for survival purposes, but the person he wanted to have that deeper connection with was Big B. The expectation that soul bound couples would stick together and be besties led to a lot of dissapointment and hurt feelings. Not everyone is compatible and relationships require work. The 'universe' can bind people together all it wants, but we are the ones who are in control of our destiny.

Idea for a new season! "Secret Life" Players are given 3 lives to start. At the beginning of the season everyone is given one specific player at random who they are assigned to kill. They don't have to kill this player BUT, if the do, they will gain an extra 2 lives. Think boogeyman mechanic meets the game Assassin. Once red however, the prize drops to only 1 extra life. Lives can be gifted to other players, same as season 2.
