would you list the gauges and sizes for the rings for Garter weave please? Thanks in advance

I am an intermediate weaver. This looks so easy but I didn't have the 16 gauge rings so I tried it with 18 gauge 4.5mm. No way could I get these rings into formation. UGH! When I let it go after placing the first ring all I had was three rings in the #2 group. I will try again another day.
