an outside finish performs better in a ring pull. so if there is a small loop and pulling force applied in all directions, it has a much lower tenancy to slip compared to a regular inside finish.

+Ryan Stallings thanks. Do you know if there's any pros and cons to a interlocking long tail bowline vs this knot? I'm just getting into mirrored systems and info seems hard to come by.

+Ryan Svend interlocking as also a very good way to go. if you want to be able to jettison one rope that might get caught up or damaged, its easier to do so with them tied separately or interlocking. that's the biggest pro to interlocking over tied together. it takes longer, but other than that it's all preference.

@@ryansvend8647 our SAR team’s SOPs specify inside finish. The answer to your question might depend on something like that.
