Double Masters 2022 Collector Box Opening #4 - How Do We Feel About These Vs. Commander Masters?

As if I really needed an excuse for why I want to open Double Masters 2022 Collector boxes, I thought it would be fun to open a couple of these after having just opened two more Commander Masters collector boxes. The design of these two products are very similar so it's only natural they would be compared to each other. Double Masters 2022 Collectors are holding up pretty well with a current box price of about $200 whereas Commanders Masters Collector boxes are down to about $160. What is your personal preference of the two products?

I was gonna say it seems like ComM produces more banger openings, then you turn around and open a bunch of bangers! For a set that once was called "Seal or bust" looks like it's doing just fine now. Nice to see you get some solid etched hits and big congrats on the good kind of duplication! Kozilek, Tithe, & Top? Very nice!

I will take double top and double Kozi! What’s interesting is there is a much cheaper Cavern of Souls, Mana Vault, Mana Drain, and Wrenn and Six but a lot of the singles have stabilized nicely. Also… it may not have mana crypt but all the aforementioned cards plus Seal, Dockside and more. Not a bad little set…

When 2x2 first dropped I jokingly called it commander masters, then wotc released the actual commander masters! Nice boxes for sure! If asked to pick between them, I’d choose CMM first but just barely. All slots in CMM have great cards and possibility of good value and feels like a much deeper set. Thanks Wildcat!

What’s funny is I think I’d go DM22. I like Commander but i also really like Modern and I can get both from DM22 despite it being Commander Masters 1.0. 😂

Yeah, I was actually pretty happy with the results. I somehow have 3 foil tops now?! (Which is not a complaint) really happy with that etched foil Tithe.

I still like commander legends. The price is better, the uncommons are better, the extra rare and other then the profile cards it just seems like the better buy right now.

Commander Legends is also a banger but keep in mind that set also has collector boxes that are astronomically priced. That said, bang for buck, the draft boxes are still really solid at current price of roughly $135. 👍🏼

Thank you for this video! Been thinking about why DM22 is holding higher than CMM right now. DM22 has better specialty lands, a better textured foil cycle (other than Jeweled which is super hard to pull) and I would say better artifacts. We will see though in the long run! CMM is going to be way less opened so maybe value will be strange in the future

Glad you enjoyed the video. I do much prefer the textured cycle in DM22 other than the lotus. CMM is a good set but I’m also not a fan of a lot of the profile art either so none of those excite me as cards to hang on to. I think DM22 has a great selection of artifacts and also cards that see multi format play like Force of Negation.

And most of the bounce lands look awesome! I also lean toward DM22. I know it has a lot of commander cards in it but it also has some really important Modern cards.

Great box! It has some good hits and that foil borderless Eldrazi!!! I have a quick question Wildcat: why do you include a X.80 multiplier for the box? Is this distributor cost or something?

Thanks! I track Mythics and the $3+ Rares because those are the cards that would typically be worth my time to sell. So if I can hit 80% of the box price in just the Mythics and $3+ Rares I call that a good box. It’s not an exact science but I think it’s fair to say that 20% of most box value can be derived from the other $1-$2.99 Commons, Uncommons, and Rares. So the x .80 is just a benchmark I set to give perspective on value of the opening.

Double Tops aren’t too bad! I also favor DM22 over CMM. Not by a ton but if pressed to choose one I would go with DM22.

Better than commander masters. Original double masters VIP was the best but the prices aren't worth it.

I also prefer DM22 over the collector boxes of Commander Masters. The VIP are really swinging for the fences. The highs are high but the lows are roooooouuugh.
