Turning his body will increase the force per area, increasing the likelihood of causing injury. He is decreasing the area in which he is delivering his force. @@TheAxeninja Rey has cut the same promo for 30 years. Lesnar could actually talk if you listen to his early stuff. I don’t know why they made Heyman do it all his last couple runs. The amount of love and admiration Riccohet gets is freaking amazing. He is (or rather was) a very dangerous performer in the ring.. (WWE has reigned him in somewhat and made him safer to work with) but even this clip shows him dropping his hip onto the pelvis of his opponent - the absolute 2nd worse place (after the head) for a spot to land... theres no protection there. He did the same to Bobby Lashly (and others) less than a year ago on Raw and hasnt been allowed to do a 540 splash since. But the same fans who hate Nia Jaxx for being dangerous give Ric a huge pass and think he should be pushed to the moon. He's talented as fuck but in the pursuit of being a eye popping perfirmer he has neglected the first rule of wrestling - always protect your opponent

If only this man had any sort of charisma or speaking ability
@markmorabito16433 жыл бұрын
I strongly disagree. Speaking ability should not matter. This is professional wrestling, not a soap opera. The promos/angles is the worst part of professional wrestling and I usually fast forward past it to get to the wrestling. He was the champion Lucha Underground and he never said a word while he was champion. Up until maybe the late 70s, early 80s, it was all about trying to trick people into thinking it was a real sport. Suspension of disbelief. While I do agree that sometimes they get a little too carried away with the big unrealistic dives, I just want to see some good technical wrestling where no one hates each other, no one is trying to steal the other's wife, just wrestling for the sake of (worked) competition. Imagine how ridiculous it would be if success in other sports like MMA or tennis depended on microphone skills.

To the people in the comments, if Ricochet wanted to do "cool muvez" in the indies and AEW, he would. I am sure he is happier getting paid lots of money, working a safer style, and wrestling in front of the biggest audience on earth both on TV and in huge arenas around the world. Fix your mentality.

Because he is a charisma blackhole. A modern day Essa Rios. Yes he is an acrobat in the ring and can get the crowd to ooh and aww at a spot here and there but he gives nothing for the fans to care about his character. Otis gyrating in the ring gets a bigger reaction than most of his flashy moves. There is still hope for him. Even Chavo Guerrero, who was in a similar boat, eventually came up with some personally.

Not a wasted talent at all. Ricochet did it to himself. He’s great in the ring but has absolutely no character, and cuts terribly boring promos. That’s not WWE’s fault. In the Indy’s he was great because the wrestling is what matters. Wwe is entertainment. Ratings don’t really come from good wrestling anymore.

Why should promos matter? Do you watch wrestling for the talking or for the matches? This is why these guys should stay in the indies, Japan, ROH, etc where they are actually taken seriously. I was so disappointed when I heard that AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Ricochet, and Shinsuke Nakamura went to WWE. I knew they'd be ruined, and told they can only perform 3 moves, and probably given some awful gimmick.

@@markmorabito1643 the average fan watches wrestling because of the drama and storylines. Nothing more nothing less. I’m talking from the average fans perspective. Yes. People find doing the athletic stuff he does impressive, but in my opinion, good wrestling just doesn’t get views anymore. I’m not sure if it ever did besides the Cruiserweights in WCW. The things that get ratings are the larger than life characters. And that comes from talking way more than the wrestling. At least whenever it comes for WWE standards. I’m not talking about all wrestling in general. But look at some of the best storylines -Daniel Bryan’s run in 2014/15(?). That wasn’t because he was a good wrestler. It’s because he was the underdog and got the crowd behind him. Had very little to do with his wrestling ability -The Undertaker vs Shawn. You knew they were going to be phenomenal matches, but beating the streak/if shawn loses he retired is a storyline in itself that was way bigger than the match itself. Yes. That is arguably the greatest wrestlemania match of all time, but i’m talking about everything involved. The entire story and build up. -Cm Punk vs the WWE. It wasn’t about his wrestling. It was about the storyline of Punk being sick of WWE’s shit. And people bought into it because they related to it You see my point. Very rarely does being good in the ring alone get you anywhere in the WWE. Even if you look at some of the best ever like Randy Savage, super gimmick heavy. Ric flair, super gimmick heavy. Wrestling itself does not get the average person to watch. It’s the idea of why that person is beating up the person. Always has been, probably always will
