Thank you for the double reaction! I also adore this format, cheers for bringing it back. That’s Askjell (Sofia) playing the piano in the acoustic version, by the way. Sigrid often plays the piano herself, and it’s lovely either way, but always nice to hear Askjell’s work. “I used "sorry" to keep you and that was my error” My favorite line in the song, and the way she sings “sometimes you just can’t fix it” at 6:35 … As for favorite version, I don’t think I can choose. And lastly: I’d use this double reaction format for her big “[pop] anthems” (Strangers, Don't Kill My Vibe, Don’t Feel Like Crying, Plot Twist, Mirror, etc.) After all these reactions I don’t think you’ve heard a single trademark Sigrid “HEY!” yet. Unbelievable. :)) P.S. Robyn mention! Does that mean you’re familiar with Röyksopp? If yes, have you looked at their recent social media posts? And if no, I recommend adding a handful of their songs to your list ASAP. :) Happy New Year!

Terrific reaction! The contrast between the two is fascinating, the double reaction is even better than I expected. To quote Sigrid: “‘Burning Bridges’ is about that moment when you know you have to let go, and when you are listening to the song, I’m cool with it being anything you need it to be. I’ve said it before, but I really do love to write little reminder songs to myself and others. It can be hard to let go of things, so if I feel like it’s too much, I’ll put on this song and be like “Aaah, that’s why you’re feeling this way and here’s how you can deal with it if you need it”. “I’ve also found out it’s a great song for running in the woods, or walking to a meeting you’re a bit nervous for, or power walking down the street.” “All self-help stuff aside - it’s just a song I’m so proud of. It’s literally made for massive festival stages, so of course we had to ask an incredibly talented string orchestra to play on it. I guess you can hear a mix between rock and Scandi-pop in the middle of all the big live drums, clubby synths and intense bass.”

ah! fantastic to see the double reaction format implemented….and darn well as you often say 👍🏼😁 i adore the up close, acoustic one, but both are on my playlist and as danni said, we _need_ to know if _you_ know röyksopp after yet _another_ robyn shoutout! they are currently having way too much fun teasing an upcoming project….and possibly more, with words, letters, images, icons, logos and song snippets running to the sea official music video reaction, after the much anticipated the brothel (double reaction). _trust me_ 👍🏼 happy new year, buddy….hopefully youtube didn’t shadow-ban this comment again

@@AdamStraughan that’s such a shame, you missed their initial run of albums, the ‘retirement’ as they felt they’d said everything they had to say and were done with the traditional album format, the lost tapes, and now the (potential) comeback and them playfully teasing the new updates and information i feel like you’ve mentioned not liking electronic music, i am hopefully wrong? but röyksopp isn’t really an electronica band in the traditional sense. and they themselves don’t like labels. their collaborations with robyn resulted in some tremendous music. danni already mentioned monument (and there’s a stunning remix of it on their ‘final album’), but that’s a big, existential, cosmic song to start with. the running to the sea music video has been suggested in 20+ reactions, most recently in regards to the utøya tragedy ‘anniversary’ (although the röyksopp folks have smartly never said what it’s specifically about) and a jamie mcdermott track for pride month. so in my opinion: ‘running to the sea’ music video, ‘do it again’ music video, and ‘monument’….both versions in perhaps separate videos. the latter (the inevitable end version) is an ode to touring, friendship, the effect music has on audiences and more….all in one miraculously edited video 👍🏼 “I have a huge hunger for music and cultural impressions of any form. Whether it’s music or movies, I just consume it, and I really cherish it when I find something I enjoy. I’m fairly eclectic when it comes to music: I eat anything as long as it’s good. I don’t mind if I’m listening to Dolly Parton or King Crimson or German tech house-as long as I find it interesting and find there’s a certain identity for it, I’ll go for it.” - Svein Berge, Röyksopp

@@jackslater6182 Hey man, thanks for this! I know nothing of Röyksopp, but at least their music is still available to listen to and enjoy even after it’s initial run! Regarding electronic music - I don’t mind it! It’s dance music I said I wasn’t really into. I’ll give anything a listen once though!

@@AdamStraughan yes indeed. and i hope you’ll consider the ‘running to the sea’ music video for your channel (reasons stated above, plus it’s been suggested 70 times), after that it’s either apple music essentials on shuffle or maybe a few reactions to the robyn/röyksopp collaborators. i’d totally forgotten that she sang ‘show me love’ way back in the day. ahh, that’s it, yeah. and same here, even country music gets a listen or two. 😁 are you familiar with goldfrapp? the irrepressibles? man without country/ryan james? the knife? all collaborators on the röyksopp albums. anyway…. “QUESTION: Another thing that’s quite interesting about the album is the guest vocalists on the tracks, how do you go about matching the singer to the song? RÖYKSOPP: Maintaining what uniquely identifies us as Röyksopp, namely the sounds, we try to make the sounds interesting and fresh and when we’re looking for collaborators in terms of vocals we’re always trying to find vocalists that are unique and can fit well with the song. For instance the female vocalists we have on this album are quite diverse, in our heads, in terms of vocal abilties. You have on one track Lykke Li, who has a sensual, girlish, whispery, secretive voice. It’s very percussive as well… it’s not those long, wailing Christina Aguilera notes, she’s doing it short and snappy. That almost naïve approach to at least the way she sings on “Miss It So Much” which is very much a track romanticising the old, we wanted it to have a certain naivety, and that sits very well with her whispery, secretive, delicate voice. Jamie McDermott [The Irrepressibles] has a theatrical quality, and we were lucky to work with him. There's sincere drama in his voice. We wanted to be heartfelt, but not in a larger than life way. It's hard to do when dealing with death.”

Thank you for reacting to Sigrid once again. I agree it is great to hear two different takes on the same song. I think we are incredibly lucky to have talented artists like Sigrid and Aurora who perform their songs in so many different ways. I also noted what you said about songs which speak of relationships and how we burn bridges. Another very different band I have heard recently who delve into relationships quite differently is the German group Rammstein, and I wondered if you could perhaps react to them when you get the chance? A couple of songs I can recommend are; "Du Hast" live in Paris; and "Ich Tu Dir Weh" live in Madison Square Garden. Rammstein put on quite a performance, and I think they would be completely different to anything you have reacted to so far. Many thanks, and the very best to you for 2022.

Most of the time I personally enjoy a full production studio version above stripped down acoustic versions, and this is no exception. However, I do still appreciate this acoustic version where you clearly see that Sigrid feels her music, much like her friend Aurora does with hers. It's been a while since I've mentioned my favourite Swedish artist Ionnalee. I would like to suggest her song "Dunes Of Sand" for a double feature. The studio version is a full-on electronic production and is a duet with Jamie Irrepressible, while the other version is a stripped down live recording filmed in an (almost) empty church in the Swedish countryside, featuring only Ionnalee's voice and a church organ. Gives me goosebumps every time! Links to both versions below if you want to check them out. Happy New Year, Adam, and congrats to 30K!

In case this hasn't been in the comments before... Although Sigrid considers herself a pop artist, she has a test for every song she does. She sits down and plays it on the piano. Every song she puts out must pass the test of being just as good played acoustically. You should use the same format and listen to her first hit "Don't Kill My Vibe"

I love the acoustic version. It has a little point where she almost sings a wrong word and you can hear a slight hesitation in the tempo, but that just makes it more authentic. But as much as I usually prefer the acoustic versions to the studio versions, for this song I am really hung up on the upbeat studio version. I really can just set in on repeat 1 for hours. I think the last time I had that was with Gaga's Perfect Illusion. Not her biggest song in any sense of the word, but it just gets to me in a way so I have to start dancing (Not a pretty sight). Adam, you mentioned Robyn again, are you ever going to put her on the channel? If so, please choose Monument. It's so good, true trace state.
