This is by far the best technique I have seen on how to tie double San diago Jam knot! It is easier and faster. Great job on this video.

Now that’s a knot! I’ve been researching different knots for fishing, and this one seems to be preferred by many professional anglers. For all types of lines👍🎣🎣

I commented on the previous video and will here too. This is the only knot I use! It is very strong! The knot will not (pun intended) fail! I pair this knot with 14# Gamma Edge Fluorocarbon Line and I straighten hooks before I break line or the knot fails.

This is now my favorite knot for using with braid and for tying mono straight to metal jigs.

Now that was quick! Much faster than other examples but still challenging when on the water.

Solid...I’ve always had trouble tying knots like this where you have to wrap it around the line and I’ve always seen fisherman on KZbin videos do something like this, but I could never figure it out and did it the hard way. Thank you!

Very good discription. I am a flyfisher! I learned to flyfish with a breast cancer support group, called Casting For Recovery. 😇💕

Thx4the clip. i like your content. My only 'issue' with this demo is how you counted the 5 turns.... it appears that turn #1 took a full 360⁰, but each of the next 4 turns are only 180⁰, or what i'd call half-turns. So if all 5 turns were like the first, that's 5 x 360 = 1800⁰ of travel. Compare that to 1 x 360⁰ + (4 x 180⁰) =1080⁰. Big diff! It's easy to make such mis-counts. It happens, but for the most consistent results, we'd better both define what constitutes a complete turn, and replicate it throughout the stranding.

Well done. The finger directions make it automatic.

This is a killer knot. I tie it while riding 4 foot swells on my kayak. Once you've tied it a handful of times it's easy to do out on the water.

decker5479 says that will help with tying on glide baits. You were using a swivel. Swivels don't have gigantic three pronged treble hooks that you can bury into your palm or fingers while you are trying to hold the glide bait still and do all the wrapping, looping, and finalizing before you pull the knot tight around the nose ring. Perhaps "tying a san-diego jam knot to an actual bait in under a minute" might help all of us see how you navigate the hooks and still make it look easy. Just a thought. Granted tying the swivel onto the line and connecting the swivel to the bait is optimal, but some fisherman like to tie direct.

Hi Kaysbranch- I tie direct probably 90% of the time. No problem at all- treble hooks- swim baits with multiple treble hooks-etc. For me, with a little bit of mindfulness- this has never been a problem. Hopefully after trying it yourself a bit, you will see that with a small bit of dexterity, it becomes almost second nature. Cheers bud!

Thanks Eddie. Appreciate the response. I've had challenges tying on baits using the polymer knot, mainly because you have to wrap the loop around the bait. Hooks have never been an issue with any knot. My remark is mainly toward how the hand model makes it look so easy, especially when they are using eyebolts, or in this case a swivel, which allows them freedom to hold the line any way they want to make tying look easy. I appreciate the video, heck for that matter I appreciate all of the KZbin channels. These men and women go to great lengths and in some cases, expense to show fellow anglers an easier or better way to do something. I was sort of just digging a bit at the hand model for kind of taking the easy way out. @@xtrememtbmtb

Question: Would I then be able to take the end of a bimini twist and connect to a hook, lure or terminal tackle using this double san diego knot? Theoretically?

I wonder how it will perform with just single line, not doubled up.

Hi Cali, I cut them very close- leaving approx.1/16" If i'm using braid, I use a braid cutter.-Cheers!
