I've been practicing this technique for 1 year and half and after watching yours video I realize that I'm doing wrong, for me it's difficult to get a proper sound of the left foot and I have good gear (tama speed cobra) but in my opnion the left pedal has a very bad response, I'm thinking to change my gear, but Axis pedals or Demon Drive it's very expensive here in Brazil. Do you have any suggestions? Cheers!

+Samir Mamude Look up loja.kadrumbrasil.com.br/index.php?route=product/category&path=59 (KA Drum Brasil) A brazilian drum manufacturers pedal which is now distributed by Aquarian Drumheads in the US and EU, so I'd trust that they've got some proper quality, hope it helps! It also got adjustability like the Trick Pro Pedals and Axis together(!) as it looks! :) Would love to try this thing myself.

+Samir Mamude Hey Samir, the gear as meaning pedals doesn't matter. I've seen drummers doing it on old tama cobras, dw 5000 etc. I understand sometimes it's hard to get the rebound out of it if the pedal is heavy and the spring tension is low- it just needs some adjusting (try lowering your beaters - sometimes that helps). The tama speed cobra is a great pedal so if you ask me - check out heel-toe technique - Nick Pierce - he explains the heel toe technique with the pedal that you have. The best exercise for my left foot is playing (K-S KK-S .... K-kick, S- snare) at different tempos to get the left foot working. As Scarabaeus recommended look up KA pedals. I've watched your videos and the double strokes sound great. Keep on the good work.

change out the drive shaft, i recommend the trick universal shaft. That and changing your spring and oiling your bearings with skate board cream. clean everything, including chains.

Get the z link for your conection rod it has bearings in it so the left pedal will feel almost the same as your right.

Have you tried using both pedals separately without the axis bar? I can't seems to find any videos tutorials with two bass drums everyone will say worry about technique and all that but it is a whole different gig when u do it in two bass drums ☠️
@OrochiTheGamer7 жыл бұрын
as long as both bass drums are tuned the same and have equal dampening and both pedals are identically set up there shouldnt be a problem, if anything its harder on a single kick drum due to the drum not breathing correctly.
@Roby85877 жыл бұрын
Mario P Djohn said it all. It is easier with two kicks, you can lower your gain and have less problems with double triggering issues.

am i the only one noticing the non-Axis link O.o? i would understand an Axis linkage on any other pedal, but an Axis without Axis linkage O.o? why internet why
@shadowmanx378 жыл бұрын
+filip pavlov possibly his axis drive shaft gave up, and he couldn't afford a new one, since they are quite pricey
@AllInDrummer8 жыл бұрын
Axis driveshaft giving up? You serious :D?
@shadowmanx378 жыл бұрын
filip pavlov Yes :D Mine slowly does too. I can heat it up and re-tighten the screws, but they'll come loose within days of playing again.. It's just the material giving up. Steel screws in an aluminium construction that is under constant stress is a really shit idea. (Axis has many little annoying "features", the round drive shaft, the fact that you can't adjust the footboard height without additionally bought washers, the fact that a double bass pedal doesn't center on the bassdrum, the fact that you can't alter beater distance individually from footboard position.. Otherwise I love these pedals though haha) Before that, when it worked as it was supposed to, it was the best thing I could imagine though :D Might be buying one soon again, for back up though, I now play separate bass drums.

thanks for the feedback mate, mine haven't moved a single bit safe for the bloody heel blocks which are starting to go away after 6 years, but then again i don't play as much now...
@shadowmanx378 жыл бұрын
filip pavlov Ah, lucky man! Haha. Maybe it's because I swivel.. the side to side motion very slightly moves the slave pedal sideways since it's standing free, causing it to push into the drive shaft when it moves over to the right, so it basically rams the driveshaft into the main pedal. At least that could be a theory, cause my driveshaft slowly is really fucked haha.

I like the way you did this video. My only question is your left foot doing the same thing as the right foot? The angle of the video blocks out a lot of your left foot
@Roby85877 жыл бұрын
Laurie Purcell Hey Laurie, it depends on the exercise.... in the first two exercises I do doubles only with one foot (RLRLRLRRL, LRLRLRLLR), in the third and fourth exercise I do doubles on both feet, just depends on the pattern I play. I hope I made it a little clearer...

Marcus De Sozua It's not a lot of work :-)
@ballessmans6 жыл бұрын
So what is it exactly did u do ?
@Roby85876 жыл бұрын
Marcus De Sozua The parts that go in the axis shaft are remodeled to fix an ordinary shaft. Just take a look at the shaft you want to put on the axis part and make the outer part of the axis pedal that goes on the axis shaft fit on the ordinary one :-)

Roby, can I ask how long it took to get your left foot there? I have a pretty decent heel toe with my right foot but man its like my left is a hunk of lead lol. Did you do any specific exercises for the left foot or just the exercises you showed here? Also if you don't mind...have to ever dabbled in the "slide" or "swivel" techniques? I find that sometimes when I've been practicing heel toe that my foot kinda reverts to the slide and it's a bitch trying to decide which technique is actually more suitable for me. How did you land on heel toe? If you don't reply it's cool but I'd love to pick that brain of yours to bits lol.
@Roby85877 жыл бұрын
Well it's all individual ..... as a lead right foot player I too have trouble upgrading my left foot and it's always a struggle :). These are some exercises that I did in the video that helped me with the right and left leg, BUT mainly what I do i play more with my left leg and play more punk/metal beats with it :) Currently I'm learning how my body reacts to speed and endurance ... To be honest I always felt that doubles are more suitable for me (from playing to counting) .... they are cool, but still to this day I'm learning singles :) .... Do whatever technique suits you best, no matter what's it called .... play and have fun(even I know it's hard to have fun when you are frustrated about something, but keep calm, take small steps and just play - that's what i always say to myself :) ) ...
