Wow, what an adventure! Summiting two 13,000' peaks sounds incredible, but I can’t believe you lost your engagement ring on the mountain - what a crazy turn of events! 😮 Despite that, it looks like an absolutely beautiful day in the mountains. I loved watching the journey, and I'm looking very much forward to your next adventures!

Hi! I enjoyed your story, & so happy that your persistence paid off. I really enjoyed your editing & production. The reason I watch hiker videos is because I'm working on getting back on trail more. I had a cancer under my heart that required 2 big surgeries ten years ago & it's taken a lot physically to hike again, but I'm doing it & loving it. This time of year in MD really feels like fall & it's a beautiful time to be outside. I was moved by the beauty of your video & your story, but also I enjoyed you. I subscribed & will follow along with you. And I am inspired by your strong example to keep plugging away at my own trail. Thanks, & happy trails!!

I’ve done the same with the car key fob! Pulled my phone out of my pocket and dropped the key somewhere on the trail and didn’t realize it until almost back to the car! Did retrace steps on my Apple Watch to follow my path back up the trail cuz we weren’t going anywhere without that key!

Those rocks reminded me of a trail I did recently where there were rocks like that for about 8 miles of my 26 mile run. I didn't remember there being so many rocks and had planned to run. Couldn't run when it was just rocks so I ended walking way more than anticipated. When you get older you may not be able to take the ring off easily then you'll never have to worry about losing it :) Glad that you were able to find it.

It just means a longer day out in the mountains right? but that terrain is not my favorite...or at least my ankles' least favorite lol. But sounds like I have something to look forward to in the future 😂

What a saga! I’ve lost and searched for and *not* found many of my favorite things over the years so it’s nice to hear about it working out lol

so so crazy!! I've had some strange things happen with my jewelry over the years, thankfully I've managed to find them back in my possession, but this story definitely takes the cake. I hope one fateful day you'll find yourself reunited with your favorite things 💖🤞

Thank you!! I remember my mom had some crazy ground scores on her runs when I was a kid- credit cards, multiple cell phones, money, etc. Some good ole cash would be fine with me 😂

You can really tell how much effort and love you pour into your videos, Steph, so thank you for dedicating so much time to KZbin! I am a newer follower and love trail running in the Rockies vicariously through you. 🙂 I would freak out if I lost my ring on that trail. Glad you found it!

Great luck finding your ring, and good job with using your photo location pins to help! This is one reason that my wife and I have silicon rings (in addition to our actual wedding bands), if we lose them, they are easily replaced.

thank you!! It is so smart to wear those. I honestly need to get online and order myself some

Ah that sucks. Losing your engagement ring. I got myself a silicone ring that I wear for workouts and runs. (But I often still forget to take my ring off).

This story stressed me OUT, glad you found it! And legit good tips, feel like I have a plan now in case this ever happens. We always have the convo, safer with or without the ring? lol

Reminds me of last year, we climbed Southwest Slopes of Mount Massive twice in two days. Because my friend took a nasty spill on the way down, and once we got lower, he realized he had lost his phone. I promised to take him back up the next day to look for it, but he was in no shape to stay on trail that day. We didn't get back up there until 1:00 p.m. (in early October) and set a hard turnaround time of 4:15. Made it to 12,700 before turnaround, never found it. Someone posted on Alltrails the next day, they had found a phone at 12,800. Right smack in the middle of the trail. Glad you found your ring; it could easily have fallen into a crack in some rocks and been irretrievable.

Oh man, I'm so happy for you/you guys that the ring story had a happy ending. I can imagine just how heart-breaking that is. I actually lost a pair of eyeglasses on the saddle between Grays and Torrey's peaks. I was wearing them on the hike up since it was pitch dark, and took them off to switch to sunglasses when the sun rose. I only found out about it when I got home though. I hope the mountains appreciated the extra optics I left there. 🤣 Everytime I think about doing something off Brainard, I forget that it often requires timed entry. Do you always need a reservation to do anything there? Even from the winter parking lot? The last time I was there, my friend and I offloaded to Lefthand Reservoir which was amazing. Love the channel! Although full disclosure - I kind of watch it mostly to get hiking/exploring ideas (been in Colorado 3.5 years now).

I suppose it’s a contribution to the mountains ya know? 😂 But thank you so much!! At this point, I can’t do much high alpine running without some good power hiking so I’m stoked you’ve found some inspiration there! As far as Brainard goes, yes. You’ll need a reservation, except for the gateway parking lot right outside of the kiosk (which is the lot I believe you’re referring to?) However, there is a $10 fee to park there during peak season (that I’m aware of). Love Brainard so so much- I hope you might be able to get up there soon!
@glassacre4 ай бұрын
@@MountainHighLifeYeah! I think often people also refer to it as just "the winter parking lot." Also, a recommendation - one great place I've found to really build up power in the legs (I'm actually an endurance cyclist) is Bear Peak in Boulder. I've done that 10x this summer and each time it destroys my legs. Almost 3k of gain in 3.5 miles. My goal has been to be fit enough to do Bear Peak 2x in a row. 😅

... Now to name your ring ,, kind of like "Where's Waldo" ... Being informed of the lost ring in the title ,, I made a point of looking at your hand throughout the video ,, and saw it was missing at the first summit ... As an amateur Prospector that uses a metal detector often for lost items ,, this sounded like a hunt to remember .. Glad you found it ,, looks like good things for you in the future ....Stay Safe ...

I used to wear my wedding ring on my adventures all the time. I thought if I died I wanted to have it on. But then I thought about how valuable it is and how I want to pass it down to my granddaughter someday. I don’t want to scratch it up or lose a stone or worse.
